People change environments. However long people are on the planet, evolving environments, then, at

for diminishing biodiversity in the world. We are reliant upon the environments that we are changing,

1.What is a gene?

gene is a basic unit of heredity and a sequence of nucleotides in DNA that encodes the synthesis of a
gene product, either RNA or protein. During gene expression, the DNA is first copied into RNA. The RNA
can be directly functional or be the intermediate template for a protein that performs a function.

2.Where can we fine genes?

Chromosomes

Genes are found on tiny spaghetti-like structures called chromosomes (say: KRO-moh-somes). And
chromosomes are found inside cells. Your body is made of billions of cells. Cells are the very small units
that make up all living things.

3.What are genes made of?

DNA

Although most genes are made of DNA, the genes use RNA to make the proteins that are coded for in
the DNA. Genes are located on threadlike structures called chromosomes in the cell nucleus. A
chromosome is a long molecule of DNA with proteins attached. Each cell of an organism carries at least
one chromosome.

1.What do you think is the importance of genetically modified organism or GMO in our current?

Agricultural plants are one of the most frequently cited examples of genetically modified organisms
(GMOs). Some benefits of genetic engineering in agriculture are increased crop yields, reduced costs for
food or drug production, reduced need for pesticides, enhanced nutrient composition and food quality,
resistance to pests and disease, greater food security, and medical benefits to the world's growing
population. Advances have also been made in developing crops that mature faster and tolerate
aluminum, boron, salt, drought, frost, and other environmental stressors, allowing plants to grow in
conditions where they might not otherwise flourish (Table 1; Takeda & Matsuoka, 2008). Other
applications include the production of nonprotein (bioplastic) or nonindustrial (ornamental plant)
products. A number of animals have also been genetically engineered to increase yield and decrease
susceptibility to disease. For example, salmon have been engineered to grow larger (Figure 1) and
mature faster (Table 1), and cattle have been enhanced to exhibit resistance to mad cow disease (United
States Department of Energy, 2007).The pharmaceutical industry is another frontier for the use of
GMOs. In 1986, human growth hormone was the first protein pharmaceutical made in plants (Barta et
al., 1986), and in 1989, the first antibody was produced (Hiatt et al., 1989). Both research groups used
tobacco, which has since dominated the industry as the most intensively studied and utilized plant
species for the expression of foreign genes (Ma et al., 2003). As of 2003, several types of antibodies
produced in plants had made it to clinical trials. The use of genetically modified animals has also been
indispensible in medical research. Transgenic animals are routinely bred to carry human genes, or
mutations in specific genes, thus allowing the study of the progression and genetic determinants of
various diseases.

The same as good vs bad therapy of any kind. Good therapy benefits the patient, bad therapy harms the
patient. This is an outcome based definition. It may be difficult to know ahead of time what the outcome
may be. I know of at least one notorious instance where a patient with a non-life-threatening condition
was killed by attempted gene therapy.

Gene therapy is promising, but for now is only used to treat a few diseases that have no other effective
treatments. Many types of gene therapy are still being studied to see how safe they are, and if they can
work to treat or prevent diseases.

2.Would you subject yourself for gene therapy without its 100% assurance of effectiveness or future
negative side effects?

Yes, I would, if the expert’s estimate of it helping me is a lot greater than their estimate of it harming
me. I might even take it if I was told that it would have adverse future effects if the current benefits
were great enough - say keeping me alive.

1.What significant contribution can individuals make in response to climate change?

We can fight climate change simply by changing what you eat. You can significantly lower greenhouse
gas emissions by eating less meat, choosing local foods when possible and buying food with less
packaging.

2.How climate change affects our country? List down some effects and describe them.

The impacts of climate change on different sectors of society are interrelated. Drought can harm food
production and human health. Flooding can lead to disease spread and damages to ecosystems and
infrastructure. Human health issues can increase mortality, impact food availability, and limit worker
productivity.

3.Give your own understanding of energy crisis

The energy crisis is the concern that the world's demands on the limited natural resources that are used
to power industrial society are diminishing as the demand rises. These natural resources are in limited

As a future teacher I am focused on the environment can be very successful and yield amazing results
only if it is taught properly. Here are some tips on how to do this.

If educators and parents take over the entire burden in terms of environmental preservation, students
won’t be prompted to take action for their environment.

✓Help Them Get a Sense of It

Students can hardly understand the environment only by reading about it in books. No one says that you
should take them to complete big projects, but simply going outside with them is going to give them a
better sense of what they are learning.
