Introduction:

Snapshot:

 Extroverts are the people we all want to hang out with.

 Introversion and extroversion specifically deal with how individuals may
gain and lose energy.
 Another major misconception on the topic of introverts and extroverts is
the idea that you need to be one way or the other.
 Introversion and extroversion are not completely black and white. There
is a gray area.
 Figuring out where you fall on the scale can be extremely helpful when
trying to understand your unique qualities.
 Be aware and be considerate of the different ways people function.

Grammar:

An adjective describes or modifies noun/s and pronoun/s in a sentence. It

normally indicates quality, size, shape, duration, feelings, contents, and more
about a noun or pronoun.

Adjectives usually provide relevant information about the nouns/pronouns they

modify/describe by answering the questions: What kind? How many? Which
one? How much? Adjectives enrich your writing by adding precision and
originality to it.

Example:

An introvert has a deep sense of meditation. (What kind?)

I have 4 reasons why I can’t speak in front of the class. (How many?)
You love that good-looking boy. Go and ask him out. (Which one?)

However, there are also many adjectives which do not fit into these questions.
Adjectives are the most used parts of speech in sentences. There are several
types of adjectives according to their uses.

 Descriptive Adjectives:
A descriptive adjective is a word which describes nouns and pronouns. Most of
the adjectives belong in this type. These adjectives provide information and
attribute to the nouns/pronouns they modify or describe. Descriptive adjectives
are also called qualitative adjectives. Participles are also included in this type of
adjective when they modify a noun.

Examples:

An extroverted person tends to be so talkative and outgoing.

 Demonstrative Adjectives:
A demonstrative adjective directly refers to something or someone.
Demonstrative adjectives include the words: this, that, these, those. A
demonstrative pronoun works alone and does not precede a noun, but a
demonstrative adjective always comes before the word it modifies.

Examples:

That strong feeling of power and inner energy makes me believe in me.
 Compound Adjectives:
When compound nouns/combined words modify other nouns, they become a
compound adjective. This type of adjective usually combines more than one
word into a single lexical unit and modifies a noun. They are often separated by
a hyphen or joined together by a quotation mark.

1. A compound adjective is formed when two or more adjectives work together

to modify the same noun. These terms should be hyphenated to avoid
confusion or ambiguity.

Introverted people are also described as inward-looking

2. However, combining an adverb (usually a word ending in "ly") and an

adjective does not create a compound adjective. No hyphen is required
because it is already clear that the adverb modifies the adjective rather than the
subsequent noun.

After too many hours of an extremely long speech, the nervous student sighed
in relief.

3. Furthermore, you should not place a hyphen in a compound adjective if the

adjectives are capitalized, such as when they are part of a title.

His video was entitled, "The Inward Looking Man," revolutionized the way
people think about shy, introverted people; however, his book on inward-looking
behavior didn’t get too many sales.
