As the PPG SIGMASHIELD 880 coating can be rapidly

immersed and continues to cure after seawater
immersion, it is particularly suited for structures exposed
to tidal movement and surges, and for offshore splash
zones such as those encountered in offshore projects.

As a fast-drying, single-coat system, the PPG
SIGMASHIELD 880 product accelerates the application
process to minimize downtime. Application is simplified by
its high surface tolerance (suitable for damp- or wet-blast
clean substrates), extended recoat window, and the high
film thickness that is achieved in one coat.

The Peljesac Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge that will

connect the Croatian mainland to the peninsula of Peljesac,
and is set to be completed by the end of 2022. The bridge
will have four lanes of traffic and measure 2.4 km long by 21
meters wide. Once completed, the span will be the second
largest in Europe.
There are total of 148 planned permanent pillars ranging in

height from 36 to 128.6 meters with diameters from 1.8 to
2 meters. The piles were fabricated in China by ZPMC and
installed by CRBC.
The PPG SIGMASHIELD 880GF system was chosen due to

its high-build and long-term protection plus its extensive
