Culture

In North-America live around 400 tribes of Indians. They


speak different language, but they don’t have writing. Only
chief Sequoyah made alphabet «Cherokee» and start to
publish the newspapers. The Indians were engaged in
hunting, gathering, and the settled tribes were also engaged
in agriculture. The Indians made ceramics of various types
and forms even before contact with Europeans. the Indians
made them by hand due to the lack of a wheel. In addition to
dishes, they made linen figurines, masks, and other ritual
objects.
Religion
The religious beliefs of the Indians in the past are various
tribal cults (shamanism, the cult of personal patron spirits,
remnants of totemism). Among the modern Indians, these
cults were preserved only among the tribes living in remote
and inaccessible areas of America, while the majority of the
Indians adopted Christianity. South America is predominantly
Catholic, while North America is Protestant.
Living facilities
There are 75 million Indians on the planet. Most Indians live
in Mexico (10.1 million), Bolivia (7 million) and Peru (6
million). In 2009, 23.6% of Indians lived below the poverty
line. Only 16% of Indians had higher education, while the
national average was 28%.
