Vice-Dean for Scientific and International Affairs,

Department of Mechanical Engineering Modelling,
Dr. Csaba HŐS

Dear Sir,

Learning about this opportunity is probably one of my greatest discoveries in the year 2022, for which I
remain most grateful to the Hungarian government, the Nigerian government and other facilitators of this
great and timely initiative, especially for me. I see this program as a great opportunity for me to explore
the full potentials of my dream to become a leader of a cleaner and better Nigeria and the world inclusive,
in the nearest future.
I hail from a local community in the south eastern region of Nigeria, in Abia State, Bende Local
Government area where I spent over 90% of my lifetime as a young person, before I relocated recently to
my current location in Lagos state, Nigeria. Growing up in Abia state, I grew up to witness a high level of
environmental degradation and pollution issuing from the poor waste handling practices generally
practiced in Nigeria, with a greater intensity in less developed states like Abia state where I hail from.
Apart from the fact that the problem of environmental pollution is a rising concern in most developed and
developing countries of the world, Nigeria seems a little bit higher on the chart as the world health data
report confirms that the lower respiratory infection associated with air pollution in Nigeria has advanced
from the 4th in the year 2007 to the highest ranked cause of death in 2017, other chronic health
complications recently observed were also linked to environmental risk factors, These concerns have
burdened my heart with the inquisitiveness and quest to seek for a solution by acquisition of relevant skill
and knowledge which I hope to gain from Budapest University of Technology and Economics.
My choice of Hungary as a country of study was inspired by my findings of their rich culture, vast
economy, and technical expertise, which I have come to agree with from my experience using
technologies produced in the country, and its peaceful and serene environment. At the end of my studies,
I expect to not only gain relevant knowledge on tackling the waste management issues in my home
country but to also form a network which I will partner with to bring my dreams to fruition.
I took my first degree (Bachelor of Engineering) at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, from
the department of Materials and Metallurgical Engineering where I graduated with a CGPA of 4.15/5.00,
amongst the top 2% of my class (in my department) of over 190 students and amongst the top 25% of my
graduating set of over 3000 students in the 2018/2019 session. With my exposure to the principles of
engineering design, fluid mechanics, Materials recycling, I believe I possess the requisite foundational
knowledge to excel at this program.
Mechanical Engineering Modelling Program at Budapest University of Technology and Economics, is
just the right tool I need to bring my abstract to reality in designing a scalable system that can efficiently
manage the large volume of waste generated industrially and domestically on a daily basis in Nigeria. I
believe that this innovation will not only solve the problem of pollution in Nigeria, but also pave way for
recycling and creation of new products which will subsequently to better its economic prosperity and
industrialization. I intend to deploy my skills into a research foundation that specializes in waste
management and materials recycle in Nigeria.
Am aware that I will be faced with certain challenges ranging from the new environment, foreign
language and a new classroom standard and technology, I have prepared my mind to be able to tackle
these challenges by keeping an open mind, forming good networks and being willing to ask questions. I
also intend learning the foreign language so as to better my interactions and community involvement in
my new location.
Budapest University of Technology and Economics is the institution of my biggest dreams, and I look
forward to completing my programs in the department of Mechanical Engineering Modelling.
