FORWARD VOLTAGE VS CURRENT

To study the forward bias of a diode

The given data shows the forward voltage across the semi-conductor diode and the forward
current. The current is taken in mA while the voltage is taken in volts.

Following are some statistical analysis operations used on the above-mentioned data obtained
by calculations on Excel
NORMAL DISTRIBUTION:
In a circuit containing current of values is normally distributed with the mean of 3.3 and
standard deviation of 3.056. If we take a random sample of 5 observations the probability of
average current is less than 6 mA

P(X<6) = 0.8115
OR
81.15%

CORRELATION OF DATA:
The value of R is 0.9304.

This is a strong positive correlation, which means that high X variable scores go with high Y
variable scores (and vice versa).

The value of R2, the coefficient of determination, is 0.8656

REGRESSION OF THE DATA:

Ŷ = -1.8667 + 9.3939X
Conclusion:
Regression and correlation:
The regression coefficient is found to be 9.3939 and the correlation is found to be 0.9304.
Comparing the value on the regression line, the correlation is found to be a strongly positive
correlation as the value is between 0.7-1, this indicates a strong direct relation between
forward voltage and current on the diode

Skewness and kurtosis:

Skewness is found to be 1.2206 which means that the observations are positively skewed.
Kurtosis is found to be 1.36524, since it is less than 3 it is said to be platykurtic.
