a) Program/Project Name:

Development and production of pilot batch of 25 nos of IIR

Seekers for HELINA with ToT from RCI.
 
b) Program/project Brief.
 
HELINA/NAG missile is a 3rd Generation Fire and forget Anti-Tank
Guided Missile (ATGM) developed by DRDL and RCI to support both
Mechanized infantry and airborne forces of Indian Army. Range of
the missile is between 500 mtrs to 7 Km. It is designed to
destroy Tanks and other heavily armoured vehicles. NAG/HELINA
missile incorporates an advanced Imaging Infra Red (IIR) seeker
developed by RCI, Hyd.
 
BDL, Hyd is the production agency for NAG/HELINA Missiles,
Whereas BEL MC has been associating with RCI, Hyd since 2010 in
development and production of IIR Seekers for NAG/HELINA to
support their developmental and user trials. BEL has successfully
completed production of 25 nos of HELINA Seekers at RCI, Hyd and
delivered 8 nos of order of IIR Seekers for NAG with Direct Drive
Configuration to DRDL. BEL is putting all efforts to get
production agency nomination from Design agency (RCI/DRDL) for
production of all future ATGM Seeker orders.
 
 
c) Agreement/contract Ref if any (for ongoing programs):
 
Tripartite agreement between RCI/DRDL, BEL & BDL for production
share for production of anticipated & all future orders of IIR
Seekers for ATGMs is prepared and forwarded by BEL to HELINA
project group (DRDL) for finalization and signatures. PD(DRDL)
has been associating with BDL team to finalize the same to
proceed further.
 
d) Status of the Program:
 
After successful completion of all user assisted trails, on
10.01.2023 The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) has accorded
the  Acceptance of Necessity(AoN) for procurement of Helicopter
launched Nag(HELINA) ATGMs(initially for qty:500 nos from army),
launchers and associated support equipment which will be
integrated to the Advance Light Helicopter(ALH).

On Finalization of Tripartite agreement between RCI/DRDL, BEL &
BDL for production share  for production of anticipated & all
future orders of IIR Seekers for ATGMs.
