I. ABSTRACT
Attendance management is important to
every single organization; it can decide
whether or not an organization such as
educational institutions, public or private
sectors will be successful in the future.
Organizations will have to keep a track of
people within the organization such as
employees and students to maximize their
performance. Managing student attendance
during lecture periods has become a difficult
challenge. The ability to compute the
attendance percentage becomes a major task
as manual computation produces errors, and
wastes a lot of time. For the stated reason, an
efficient mobile-based android application
for attendance management system is
designed to track student's activity in the
class. This application takes attendance
electronically and the records of the
attendance are storing in a database. The
project aims in implementing a software
application that helps professors to take the
attendance using mobile phone by tracking
the location of the students. The project is
based on J2ME technology and the server
database is connected with the mobile phone
through GPS. this system allows the user to
enter attendance in specified GPS location if
the user is apart from the location then the
attendance will not be taken.
II. INTRODUCTION
Attendance management is important for
every single organization. For the stated
reason, an efficient android application for
attendance management system is designed
to track student’s activity in the class. This
application takes attendance electronically
and the records of the attendance are stored
in a database. Mobile app development is
the act or process by which a mobile
app is developed for mobile devices, such
as personal digital assistants, enterprise
digital assistants or mobile phones. These
applications can be pre-installed on phones
during manufacturing platforms, or
delivered as web applications using server-
side or client-side processing (e.g.,
JavaScript) to provide an "application-like"
experience within a Web browser.
Application software developers also must
consider a long array of screen sizes,
hardware specifications, and configurations
because of intense competition in mobile
software and changes within each of the
platforms. Mobile app development has
been steadily growing, in revenues and jobs
created. A 2013 analyst report estimates
there are 529,000 direct app economy jobs
within the EU then 28 members (including
the UK), 60 percent of which are mobile app
developers. software used are: android
studio, java, GOOGLE firebase for the data
storage . Android Studio is the
official integrated development
environment (IDE)for Google's Android ope
rating system, built on JetBrains' IntelliJ
IDEA software and designed specifically
for Android development.[8] It is available
fordownloadon Windows, macOS and Linux  called Android Studio. Based on Jet Brains'
based operating systems.[9][10] It is a
replacement for the Eclipse Android
Development Tools (ADT) as the primary
IDE for native Android application. In
mobile app there are three types: native app,
hybrid app, web app. Here we use native app

Because a native app is built for use on a
particular device and its OS, it has the ability
to use device-specific hardware and
software. Native apps can provide optimized
performance and take advantage of the latest
technology, such as a GPS, compared to web
apps or mobile cloud apps developed to be
generic across multiple systems. The major
advantage for using native app is as compare
to web app native app has more advantages
A web app is an application that the user
does not download and instead accesses via
a web browser over a network. Example
web browsers include Google Chrome,
Safari and Mozilla Firefox. Web apps
provide functionality from bank account
access to YouTube video viewing via, for
example, Safari on an I-Phone.
While native apps are written to the specific
device, a majority of web applications can
be written in JavaScript, CSS and the
standard version of HTML for universal use
across various browsers. Web apps can use a
single code base because they are not
designed around a specific device. Web apps
are fast and simple to build, but are not as
versatile and quick as native apps. You
write Android apps in the Java
programming language using an IDE
Intelli-J IDEA software, Android Studio is
an IDE designed specifically for Android
development. For the database we use
GOOGLE firebase. Firebase is a mobile and
web application development platform
developed by Firebase, Inc. in 2011, then
acquired by Google in 2014. As of March
2020, the Firebase platform has 19 products,
which are used by more than 1.5 million
apps. Firebase provides a real-time database
and back-end as a service. The service
provides application developers an API that
allows application data to be synchronized
across clients and stored on Firebase's
cloud. The company provides client libraries
that enable integration
with Android, iOS, JavaScript, Java, Objecti
ve-C, Swift and Node.js applications. The
database is also accessible through a REST
API and bindings for several JavaScript
frameworks such as Angular
JS, React, Ember.js and Backbone.js. The
REST API uses the Server-Sent
Events protocol, which is an API for
creating HTTP connections for receiving
push notifications from a server. Developers
using the real time database can secure their
data by using the company's server-side-
enforced security rules. The major

success of any organization by keeping track
of people within the organization such as
students to maximize their performance.
The proposed system offers the process of
monitoring attend students, it aims to help
the teacher in the classroom or
laboratories to manage and record
