The text is taken from the terminology used for various Malay traditional dance movements. Inspired by an Indonesian exotic Malay scale, the music depicts a modern staging of Malay traditional dance that translates into a vibrant Sound experience through the variety colors of vocal quality produced by the ensemble. With stomps, claps; tongue clicks, snaps, shouts, and extreme range and dynamics, this showpiece is sure to leave a lasting impression for the audience. Itisa perfect choice for a concert closure! Performance Notes Stomping, tongue clicks, clapping, shouting, varying tone colors, and indiscriminant pitches are utilized throughout this piece. Later he graduated from the Asian Insitute fr Liturgy and Music with a Bacheloe of Church Music in choral conducting and composition under the tutelage of Fancisco F. Feliciano, Ralph Hoffman, and Eudenice Palaruan. While studying, in the Philippines, he also studied with many influential musicians such as Arwin Tan, Christopher Borela, and Joel Aquino. His work Mutu Manikam Indonesia for three mixed choirs was premiered at the 3rd Bali International Choir Festival to great acclaim. TOH Ban Sheng, born in Malaysia and now residing in Singapore, graduated with «a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics in 1992 and obtained a Post-graduate Diploma in Education in 1994, Starting out essentially asa self-taught musician, Toh obtained his first music qualification at the age of 26, and then went on to earn a Master of Music degree in both Choral Conducting (2002) and Voice (2003) at the University of South Carolina with Dr. Larry Wyatt. He is also recognized as an outstanding conductor and educator in Singapore. An active figure in the choral scene, Toh has garnered more than 70 gold awards, 23 champions, and numerous special jury prizes at home and abroad (Austria, Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Lithuanio, Poland, and Slovakia). Additionally, he was honored with the Conductor's Prize seven times in Europe. At home, his choirs have twice won the Best Choir of the Year ttle. Having served as ‘a Music Specialist in the ministry of education and as a conductor for the 800-strong National Day Parade Combined Choir, Toh was awarded the 2006 Young Artist Award, the highest national arts award, for his artistic achievements. Adjudicator, clinician, and voice coach, he directs five prominent choral programs in schools. book, The Accidental Conductor, was published in March 2010.
