1. Visa exemption has resumed from 11 October 2022


 
Visa exemption measures for 68 countries/ regions (including Malaysia) has resumed from 12:00AM October 11th 2022. Malaysian do not need visa
to enter Japan for short term stay less than 90 days from 11 October onwards.

2. Entry Procedures
 
※Entrants don’t need to conduct  on-arrival COVID-19 infection test, home quarantine and other measures regardless of the vaccination status.
 
(1) Entrants need to answer and submit a questionnaire.
 
(2) Entrants need to provide copy of (a) valid vaccine certificate or (b) negative certificates of PCR test taken within 72 hours prior to his / her departure.
 
(a) Entrants vaccinated 3 doses of vaccines prescribed in this link and has valid vaccine certificate do not need to provide the negative  certificate of PCR test
taken within 72 hours before departure. 

Note: For children under the age of 18 without a valid vaccination certificate, if they are accompanied by a guardian with a valid vaccination certificate and
who will supervise the children, they will be treated as holders of valid vaccination certificates, and submission of the negative certificates is exempted the
same as the guardian as an exception. 
 
(b) Pre departure PCR test taken within 72 hours before departure is still required if entrants do not have an above mentioned valid vaccination certificate.
Please refer to this link to check whether your vaccine type/certificate meets the requirement.

Note: In case the accompanying guardian does not hold a valid vaccination certificate and enters Japan with a negative certificate, preschool-aged children
(generally under the age of 6) are not required a negative certificate.
 
※Children under the age of 18 without vaccination certificates enter Japan by themselves (without being accompanied by a guardian with a valid vaccination
certificate), are not eligible for the above exception.

Travellers are strongly encouraged to use Visit Japan Web to simplify on arrival entry procedures.

 
3. The effect of pre-clearance granted by the Japanese Government to APEC Business Travel Card (ABTC) issued by the following countries and
region has resumed from 12:00AM October 11th 2022:
 
Australia, Brunei, China, Chile, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand, Peru, Philippines, Russia,
Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam

4. Lifting of suspension of visa validity

The suspension of visas issued prior to December 2, 2021 is lifted from 0:00 am (JST) on October 11, 2022. As a result, those who hold a visa valid after 0:00
am (JST) on October 11, 2022 will be able travel with the visa as long as it is valid within the time limit.
 
Example : If you have a 3 or 5 years mulitple entry visa which is still valid, you can enter Japan within the validity of your visa from 11 October 2022
onwards
