Anchor: We're back, VIRUS BREAKS OUT FROM CHINA! WORLD GETS AFFECTED BY
IT? In a move that some critics say should have happened 1 week ago,the World Health
Organization (WHO) has declared the outbreak of a novel coronavirus in China a global health
emergency. Coming to you, Ayessa Mae reporting from the World Health Organization.
Aye: Thank you, Jaren. I'm here with Dr. Skye Valdez.
: Dr. Skye Valdez, how worse is the situation?
Pat: It has become progressively worse. The new disease was initially reported in China on
December 31, 2019, and it has now spread to 18 nations; 7834 individuals have been affected,
with 170 of them dying.
Aye: What is the main reason for the declaration of this outbreak?
Pat: The cause of this outbreak is not what is happening in China, but rather what is happening in
other nations. Our greatest worry is that the virus may move to nations with poorer health
systems that are unprepared to cope with it. This statement does not represent a vote of no
confidence in China. On the contrary, WHO is confident in China's ability to contain the
outbreak.
Aye: There you have it folks! Stay safe! This is your correspondent, Ayessa Paguirigan. OUR
BUSINESS, YOUR NEWS.
Jaren: Thank you, Ayessa that's tragic. People should be careful! We will be back after a short
break.

26 strong sets, also a conference-high.
While only scoring 9, Alyssa Valdez more than made up for it with 15 superb digs and 12 superb
catches, and Jema Galanza added 10 points.
Choco Mucho launched its effort at a comeback with a 5-0 run to open the third set after
suffering a crushing defeat of 14-25 in the previous one.

OUR BUSINESS, YOUR NEWS.
Co-Anchor: And this wraps up our sport news. Up next, ONIONS IN THE PHILIPPINES
COSTS WAY TOO HIGH??? FIND A CHEAPER WAY TO CRY. In other countries, onions
are affordable and cheaper, whilst in the Philippines, 1 KILO is equivalent to 700 pesos??
WHAT? Reporting from the plasa we have here Elmark Garcia.
EJ: Hello, everyone. I have here ate Drea, a tindera here and e fellow citizen. Ate, what causes
the onions to cost way too high?
Tindera: Good gracious, it's probably because of the shortage of onion supply and the pests in
our farms, I think that they are the ones benefiting from what we sell. We don't have a choice but
to raise the price of onions because if we lower it, we would have no gain from what we sell, and
we’ll have no profit then.
EJ: As you can see Jaren and Deara, even our shopkeepers are having a difficult time with the
inflation of onions as they too are paying high to buy these.
The inflation rate in the Philippines increased from 8.1% to 8.7% between January and February.
Our President Bong Bong Marcos, according to an interview, expects a decrease in inflation or
an increase in the general price level of goods and services in an economy in April or June.
According to an interview, the government continues to work on solutions to lower the inflation
rate in the country and the president sees progress in reducing inflation due to the decrease in the
price of petroleum and some agricultural products.
Along with this interview, the Philippine Statistics Authority released the inflation rate for the
month of January 2023 which was 8.7% higher compared to the rate in December 2022 which
reached 8.1%. Back in the studio, this is Elmark Garcia reporting for Eu-nice.

Anchor: Reporting back, A “No Homework” policy was filed by Senator Ramon Bong Revilla
Jr. for the elementary and Junior High departments saying that homework decreases students’
productivity with leads to dropouts and lower grades. We have Maryjane Balubal reporting.
MJ: The "No Homework Act of 2023," or Senate Bill No. 1792 implements a none mandatory
take-home assignments during the weekends and are only allowed during the weekdays and it
should be a minimum of at least one hour to finish. Revilla said that homework takes the
students’ time to bond with their families.
MJ: Sen. Revilla said in this explanatory note that more homework tends to give students anxiety
that leads to low motivation in doing school work and that the extra time that they should have
gives the kids a chance to unwind and improves their thinking skills.
