The hardware key is not install correctly, the key ID does not match or the
host ID specified in the license file for EMTPWorks does not match this
computer.

• License type: Node-Lock with USB key

• Occurrence: On EMTP Opening.


When trying to open EMTP®, it does not open and instead the following message pops up:

When the dongle key is plugged, there is no red light.

• Solutions:

- Make sure that Windows Update is configured to check for Drivers > more info.
- Make sure the latest dongle drivers are used > more info.
How to make sure that Windows Update is configured to check for Drivers

• License type: Node-Lock with USB key

- Enable searching Windows Update manually.


To enable searching Windows Update manually on a single computer
- Click Start, right-click Computer, and then click Properties.
- In the Tasks list, click Advanced System Settings.
- On the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then
click Windows Update Driver Settings (on Windows 7 this is “Device Installation
Settings”).
- Click “Yes, do this automatically (recommended)”.
- Click OK twice, and then close the System dialog box.
How to make sure the latest dongle drivers are used

• License type: Node-Lock with USB key


- Disconnect the USB Key
- Download and unzip the latest version of the official driver here (“Sentinel HASP LDK -
Windows GUI Run-time Installer”):

- Run “HASPUserSetup.exe” as Administrator

- Validate the different steps and wait for the end of the installation.
- Connect the key to the computer. The new driver should be correctly installed.
- The key’s red light should now be on.
