Youth Provision

A brief summary of ELATT Connected Youth

Blooming Young People

In the last 3 years, our youth provision has doubled in size. We currently have 60 young
people registered across our youth provision
Our success rates among this group remains very high, consistently over 90%
We have developed and grown our referral links within Hackney and Tower Hamlets and
are now respected as approved providers of alternative and SEND provision. We are now
also working with Camden to develop similar links
Youth Provision

There are 3 main strands of Youth Provision:

Alternative Provision
Study Programmes
Traineeships and Apprenticeships
Alternative provision

Learners are referred from schools or local authorities

We currently work with students who are 14-16 (Years 10 and 11)
The learners will need to be referred directly to me or Naima, as the
provision needs to be carefully planned and monitored
Study Programmes

Learners are either referred or enroll themselves

Learners are 16-18 (19 if they have a EHCP)
Learners are integrated into adult provision, so the enrolment
process is identical for adult learners
Funding is completely different, so enrolment needs to be handed
over to the Youth Team for processing.
Traineeships and Apprenticeships

These programmes involve work with employers

Traineeships are for 16-25 year olds
Apprenticeships are now open to all ages
Levy payers and non-levy payers
SEND Learners
Learners are usually referred to us from local authorities
Learners are aged 16 – 25
Around 25% of our learners have Education, Health Care Plans (EHCP),
but about 50% need SEN provision to support their needs
We have now developed a team of people devoted to working with young
people with SEND. The Learning Development Service is still in it’s
infancy, but has been working to ensure the right support for our SEND
learners is in place.
Although we cannot make diagnoses for our learners, the Learning
Development Team can support tutors differentiate for different
neurodiverse needs.
