Dear Nikhil,

Thank you for your application for a position as a volunteer with the Surrey Memorial Hospital. We
would like to commend you on your lively personality and great communication. We truly enjoyed
meeting you and debating over the best animals! I had quite a laugh. You are sure to be successful with
your efforts in raising awareness about women’s health.

We have received over 50 applicants for the limited 5 spaces at Surrey Memorial Hospital and have
come to make a difficult decision. There were many amazing applicants with all but similar
qualifications. At the time, we are giving priority to college applicants in order to support them in their
career journeys.

As head of the Surrey Memorial Hospital’s volunteer coordinator, I’d like to inform you with deep regret
that due to the high competition, many desirable candidates have been turned away. We highly
encourage you to reapply again next year, or possibly later on in post-secondary. In order to increase
your chances of being accepted, I recommend you obtain first aid, WHMIS and Hand Hygiene
certification.
