What causes oral reading fluency difficulties

1. Teaching method

–This is one of the reasons for the child to encounter difficulties in oral reading fluency. Maaaring yung
methods na ginagamit ng teacher ay hindi ganun ka-effective at hindi klaro sa mga bata. So, as a teacher
you should be diver and use scaffolding to really see to it if your learners learned. Since they have
differences in learning, so as a teacher, you are responsible to assess and guide them well in oral reading
fluency.

For example: you are teaching grade 1 to 3, in order for you to teach them effectively kailangan i-
consider din natin yung basics, kumbaga you as a teacher have to start from simple to complex. Hindi
pwedi na mag-jump ka into word to word talaga. Dapat isa-isahin mo ang mga letters either consonants
or vowels kung ano ang tamang pagbigkas nito.

2. Time alloted for learning

–Isa rin ito sa nakaka-apekto sa reading fluency ng mga bata. Teacher needs to incorporate strategies
like choral reading, echo reading, and theater.

•Sa choral reading – it is the process of the teacher to let the children read simultaneously.

•Echo Reading- ito naman yung pinapabasa mo ang mga bata through echoing.

For example:

Snake. So babasahin mo ito ng isa-isa. Sss, nnn, aaa, kkk, eee. SNAKE.

•Theater- pwedi kang magpakita ng mga clips or videos na related sa oral reading fluency.

3. Language Ability

–It is like what being stated na kapag iko-compara natin yung mga bata na may first language na English
at sa mga bata na second language lang ang English ay malaki talaga ang pinagkakaiba. Kumbaga sa amin
na mga Muslim, iba talaga yung ways namin magbigkas. Minsan ang mga matitigas na ay nagiging soft,
at ang soft ay nagiging hard. Di maiwasan dahil sa language talaga na nakasanayan.
4. Phonological awareness

–Yung sa pagbigkas ng mga letters like the proper sounds. Bale yung mga bata na di makabigkas ng mga
maayos ay mahihirapan talaga in reading fluency. Kagaya nang mga bata na di nakakabigkas ng "R".
Instead na R nagiging L. In that case, nahihirapan talaga sila.

5. Social and Cultural Disadvantage

–Dito napa-belong or na-envolved ang family ng isang bata; kuya, ate, at parents nila. Kaya minsan

6. Factors Intrinsic to the learner

essential nature of a thing or a person. So, meaning ito ay normal na sa mga bata na magbigkas sila na
yung parang pautal at yung pagbigkas nang matagal.

For example: Neighborhood- so binabasabi nila ito in a long pauses.
