How Learning Happens in the
Human Brain?

The brain
brain acts as a dense network of fiber
pathways that consists of approx. 100
billion neurons which is responsible for all
connections among three principal parts;
stem, cerebrum, and cerebellum.

The cerebrum
cerebrum is
most important in
learning, since this
is where higher-
ordered functions
like memory and
reasoning occur.
Each area of the
cerebrum specializes
in a function that are
the most important
for learning.
Learning happens through a network of neurons
where sensory information is transmitted by
synapses along the neutral pathway.

A neuron
neuron is a cell which acts as a messenger,
sending information in the form of nerve impulses
(like electrical signals) to other neurons
the ability of the brain to change
throughout one's life.
Information Processing Theory is a cognitive
theory that focuses on how information is encoded into our
memory. It describes how our brains filter information, from
what we’re paying attention to in the present moment, to
what gets stored in our short-term or working memory and
ultimately into our long-term memory.
METACOGNITION
Metacognition is thinking about one’s thinking.
It refers to the processes used to plan, monitor,
and assess one’s understanding and
performance.
Metacognition includes a critical awareness of
a) one’s thinking and learning and
b) oneself as a thinker and learner.
METACOGNITIVE STRATEGIES

knowledge
