Community Extension Office Guidelines for all

Community Engagements, Activities, and

Projects effective
AY 2022-2023

(Faculty and ASP/Officials)

To take note, all community engagements/activities of the college/academic

program/department must be included in the submitted ACTIVITY MATRIX
(calendar of activities) at the end of the previous academic year.

1. To track the converted volunteering hours, all INSTITUTIONAL and COLLEGE-

DRIVEN initiatives should go through the office. EXTENSION SERVICES including
personal outreach engagements, and community activities must be submitted to the
ComEx Office with complete documentation for review and validation. Only
community extension activities that are accredited by the office will be converted to
volunteer hours. Ways of ComEx Engagement are as follows:

➢ Institutional-driven community initiatives- These refer to any community

engagements initiated by the Community Extension Office in partnership with
any college/academic program, NGO, community/barangay partner, SMFI, and
other identified partners. This category of community engagements entails
doing initiatives, programs, research, connections, and other cooperative
actions on behalf of the Institution to support the National University's
dedication to actively participating in addressing societal issues.

➢ College-driven initiatives- These refer to engagements initiated by the

Colleges/Academic programs based on their competencies. Projects in
partnership with NU ComEx as collaborators will also fall under this category.

➢ Extension Services (Outreach Activities and Service-Learning)- These activities

refer to outreach engagements initiated by the College/Academic
Program/Non-Academic Offices. The donation drive, blood donation
campaigns, medical and dental missions, mural painting, clean-up drive, tree-
-planting activities will fall under this category.
