Industrial Waste Water Management

Introduction and Discussion of Theories

Objective

To understand the industrial waste water management

Diagram/Set-up

*Cite 3 different manufacturing industry in the Philippines that disposes their waste water
direct to the bodies of water(Oceans,Lake,Etc). For each manufacturing company, kindly
show the process of their wastewater treatment before disposing it to the bodies of water.
(Include both the process and equipment used in treating the waste water).

*List down all the equipment used to treat wastewater before disposing in the atmosphere.

Question:

1. What are the laws governing the bodies of water in the Philippines? Explain.

 The Philippine Clean Water Act of 2004 (Republic Act No. 9275) aims to

protect the country's water bodies from pollution from land-based sources
(industries and commercial establishments, agriculture and community/household
activities).

2. Give 2 government agencies that is responsible on wastewater management.

 Departments of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Public Works

and Highway (DPWH) and local governments

3. What are the laws that governs the proper wastewater management in the
Philippines? Explain.

 Philippine Clean Water Act of 2004 (Republic Act No. 9275). An Act providing
for a comprehensive water quality management and for other purposes. This Act
provides for the abatement and control of pollution from land based sources, and
lays down water quality standards and regulations.

4. What is the difference between conventional pollutants and priority pollutants?

 A conventional pollutant is a term used in the USA to describe a water pollutant that is

amenable to treatment by a municipal sewage treatment plant while priority pollutants are
a set of chemical pollutants we regulate, and for which we have developed
analytical test methods.
