AFFIDAVIT OF FINANCIAL SUPPORT

in favor of
SHANTANU KAR
for his Higher Studies in Canada.

I, Ratna Rani Kar, W/O-Santush Kumar Kar, the legal sponsor and parent (Mother) of my elder son Mr.
Shantanu Kar who has wished to apply for study permit at High Commission of Canada in Bangladesh. I
have decided to sponsor my son Mr. Shantanu Kar on basis of his high ambition for overseas education
and dream to study in Canada. I am ready and completely prepared to bear all of his educational costs like
tuition fees, accommodation and medical insurance and other expenses whatever is needed to complete
his education smoothly in Canada without any hassle. I am giving my pledge and assurance to you that
his education will not be stopped due to any financial crisis although Mr. Shantanu Kar has been granted
graduate research assistantship with SGS Baseline and other (Oil and Gas) scholarship from Memorial
University of Newfoundland. Mr. Shantanu Kar is living with us at our present & permanent address:
House No: 08, Block - B, Shurovi R/A, P.O:- Sreemangal 3210, P.S.-Sreemangal, Moulvibazar. As a by
faith Hindu; Nationality- Bangladeshi by birth, I do hereby solemnly affirm and declare as follows:

1. That Mr. Shantanu Kar is my elder son, Date of Birth 12/01/1989, Passport No. AF 7146706,
Holding Bangladeshi Citizenship and living with us since 1989. I am the glorious Mother of my
two sons where the Younger son is in Higher Secondary Level.

2. I am a housewife and I have been saving money looking forward to supporting higher
studies of my son from my family income as well as gift money from my relatives.

3. That I am the legal sponsor of my son for his further higher studies in Canada to develop
his personal career and professional skill.

4. That my son completed his Bachelor Degree from Shahjalal University of Science & Technology
in the field of Civil and Environmental Engineering in 2010 and currently working as a Lecturer
at Stamford University Bangladesh.

5. That my son has been accepted to study at the Canada’s University, “Memorial University of
Newfoundland” with a yearly Graduate Assistantship funding of 19000 CAD in the field of
Geotechnical Engineering - Offshore (Oil & Gas) Engineering for 2 years research based
Master’s program as a full time student for September, 2013 Fall session. Dr. Ryan Phillips,
Associate professor of the Department of Civil Engineering, Memorial University of
Newfoundland, will be his research supervisor and Dr. Bipul Hawlader, Associate professor of
the Department of Civil Engineering; Memorial University of Newfoundland will be his Research
Cosupervisor.

6. I am committed, willing and able to bear his all educational expenses (Tuition and Living cost)
for completion of his full time Master’s program at Memorial University of Newfoundland. If
and when necessary I am ready to Spent my Fixed Deposit to bear my son’s educational
expenses in Canada.
