The diagrams illustrate changes in yearly expenses for a certain UK school in 1981, 1991, and

2001.

In 1981, 40% of the total school expenses were spent on teachers’ salaries. This figure rose from
40% to 45% with some fluctuation in the following two decades. The proportion of furniture and
equipment costs was 15% in 1981, fell to 5% in 1991, and then soared dramatically to 23% in
2001. The percentage of insurance increased steadily from 1981(2%) to 2001(8%).

Other workers’ salaries spent about 28% of the school budget in 1981. The figure for it decreased
to 22% in 1991, and reached its minimum in 2001, at 15%. Expenditure of resources, such as
books, was 15% of the total spending in 1981, grew to 20% in 1991, but declined rapidly to 9% in
2001.

In conclusion, teachers’ salaries had the highest proportion while insurance had the lowest
proportion in the school's annual expenses between 1981 and 2001. Moreover, the precentage of
furniture and equipment had a wider range of figures.
