roads and transport in 4 countries in the years 1990 1995 2000 2005.

The bar chart illustrates the expenditure of 4 countries on road and transport at five-year
intervals between 1990 and 2005.
Overall, the proportion of spending in Portugal was by far the highest among the countries,
whereas the figures of UK was obviously lowest. However, the percentage of almost
countries seemed to fluctuate a lot while Portugal saw a steady decrease throughout the years.
In 1990, the expenditure on road and transport accounted for 23% in Intaly and 27% in
Portugal, which reached the highest peak over the period. By contrast, the rate in the UK and
the USA rose to precisely 10% and around 11% respectively.
During five-year interval from 1995 and 2000, Portugal and Italy continued to have higher
percentage compares to the other 2 countries. However, the UK estimated 12% in 2000 as its
highest percentage over the period. In the year 2005, the rate in Italy, Portugal and the UK
seemed to have a gradual decline in terms of the previous 5 years, which was approximately
19%, 20% and 8% respectively. Whereas, the figure of the USA saw a steady increase at
around 3% per 5-year from 1995 to 2000 and reached 15% in 2005.
