Some people think that parents should teach children how to be good members of society.

Others, however, believe that school is the place to learn this.

The morals and value of an individual are crucial elements for them to be a good member of society, the
individual should indulge themselves in inhibiting these traits at young age. Some people believe that it
is the parent’s responsibility to teach the young children how to be a good member of society whereas,
others believe that it is the school’s job to do so. Both of the views are discussed below along with my
opinion on it.

Some people think that parents should bear the weight of teaching their children how to be good
members of society. Parents play a major role in developing the mindset of a child, especially at an early
age. It is the age when a young individual learns the very basics of life. The understanding of a child is
not advanced enough to make sense of anything happening around them let alone how to behave and
be a good member of society. So, it is up to the parents to teach them, as well as be a good member
themselves as children learn by idolizing their parents.

In contrast, some people think that school is the place to learn such things. School is the place where a
child first goes to socialize, meet new people and learn about society, so saying that school should be
the place to learn this thing is not wrong. That's why schools play a massive role in developing the
mindset of the child in order to make him a good contributor to society.

In my opinion, I think that the former is correct as it is the parents who come before any teacher and a
child will always put them first before anyone else. According to the data, eighty percent of the child’s
brain develops by the age of five, that means all the basic etiquettes and the morals which are
mandatory for and individual to be a good member of the society are put in place in the child’s brain
even before he or she ever go to the school. That’s why it is the responsibility of the parents to plant the
seed of good character in their children. The saying “parents are the first teacher of a child” confirms
that. (373 words)
