Some people think that schools should not only provide formal education but also teach children

good
manners. This is a common view, but not everyone agrees with it. I partially agree with this view.

I have several reasons for my partial agreement. First, learning good manners in school can help children
adapt faster and become more independent in life. For example, using polite words like “hello”, “sorry”,
or “thank you” when meeting strangers can make children more confident. Second, children tend to
learn better at school than at home. At school, children have more opportunities to interact with
different people. This can stimulate their social skills. Children are also curious about everything in the
world. Therefore, school is an ideal place to help them learn good manners before they enter society.

However, many people believe that teaching good manners is the responsibility of parents, not schools.
They think that school is only for acquiring academic knowledge. They argue that parents know their
children better than teachers and can communicate with them more effectively. Therefore, they can
teach good manners more easily.

In conclusion, I think that schools should have some responsibility to teach children good manners.
Sometimes children listen and obey someone other than their parents. So, friends, relatives, and
teachers can also help shape a child’s character. However, they need to agree on how to teach children
and what are the appropriate behaviors for them.
