HOW TO BUILD A STRONGER TEAM

To build a stronger team should start from the root or beginning as a team. Each
member must know each expectations so that there would be a basis for development
and adjustments where it should lead to, more importantly its core values, its mission
and vision and its goal. Every team always possess a good intention and purpose, it
should be founded to a strong commitment to its members specially on the team’s core
values, its mission and vision, and its goal on what the team should adhere to its end
intention. As the team build its foundation, attitudes among members plays the most
important part in building a stronger team. Having a topsy-turvy environment among
members, specially its attitude, harmony in work place is very much impossible.
Members should be professional enough to be respectful among members, despite of
their profession, degree and status in the society. Each member must feel the
atmosphere of being at home while they are in the team. Members may have
differences in their attitudes, views but respecting one’s worth in the team will surely
push the entire team move forward. The team must play as prime mover that each one
has its worth and that one’s absence would jeopardize the entire team. The team should
inspire and push forward its members so that its advocacy will be realized and its goal
will be implemented. Each one’s role has nothing to do with its gender, there must be
equality of function among members, gender bias should be avoided, favoritism must
not exist in the team. Consider one’s own capacity mentally, physically and emotionally
on their role in the team. Do not put too much work load on those that exceeds one’s
capacity. Openness to each other is the vehicle to understanding among members and
will surely push the team forward. Each one can easily adjust whatever weaknesses
and strength a member has, and can easily move forward whenever there are
misunderstanding when there is harmony. Open communication within the team serves
as vital role, whatever activities in a day, every member is aware, any changes due to
some concern, everybody should be informed. In the profession I am working with, the
DepEd, without harmony, without consideration to one’s own capacity and situation,
habitable and harmonious environment is impossible. Like for example, doing
administrators given tasks requires one’s commitment to the profession, knowledge,
skills, commitment and discipline to meet the submission date. This has something to
do with one’s attitude, following one’s order requires attitude, meeting the submission
dates needs attitudes, adjustment to other teaching staff needs attitude, that’s the
essence of building a stronger team. Attitudes builds harmony and connect each
member in the team. We in DepEd are founded with core values, trained in team
building, values oriented teaching staff, God fearing individual, community active,
environment friendly, peace loving and child friendly teachers we build a stronger team
in our school and in our profession. Universities and colleges continue to exist because
they are well-founded, there is harmony and peaceful environment in the work place.
That’s how a strong team is being build.
