Area 51 and the Aliens
Laura Rauch / AP
We may have Tang thanks to the space program, but
who gave us such innovations as the Stealth fighter and
Kevlar? Aliens, of course. Conspiracy theorists believe
that the remains of crashed UFO spacecrafts are stored
at Area 51, an Air Force base about 150 miles from Las
Vegas, where government scientists reverse-engineer
the aliens' highly advanced technology. Fodder for this
has come from a variety of supposed UFO sightings in
the area and testimony from a retired Army colonel
who says he was given access to extraterrestrial materials gathered from an alien spacecraft
that crashed in Roswell, N.M. Some believe that the government studies time travel at Area
51, also known as Groom Lake or Dreamland.

The government has developed advanced aircraft and weapons systems at nearby Nellis Air
Force Base, including Stealth bombers and reconnaissance planes. And the government's
official line — that the details of Area 51 are classified for purposes of national security — is
only seen as further proof that the military is hiding aliens or alien spacecraft.

What is Area 51 and what goes on there?

19 September 2019

The small US towns of Rachel and Hiko, near the highly secret Area 51 facility in Nevada,
are bracing themselves for a possible influx of visitors.
The viral Facebook event "Storm Area 51, They Can't Stop All of Us" is due to take place on
20 September - even though the person who
came up with the idea says it was a joke.
So, what is Area 51?

What do we know about Area 51?

Area 51 refers to a map location and is the
popular name for a United States Air Force
base. It is at Groom Lake, a dry lake bed in
the Nevada Desert, 85 miles (135km) north
of Las Vegas.
What goes on inside is extremely secret.
Members of the public are kept away by warning signs, electronic surveillance and armed
guards.
It is also illegal to fly over Area 51, although the site is now visible on satellite images. The
base has runways up to 12,000ft (2.3 miles/3.7km) long.

The facility is next to two other restricted military areas: the Nevada Test Site, where US
nuclear weapons were tested from the 1950s to the 1990s, and the Nevada Test and Training
Range.
The entire range covers more than 2.9 million acres of land.
According to the US military, it represents "a flexible, realistic and multidimensional battle-
space to conduct testing tactics development, and advanced training".

Why was it built?

Area 51 was created during the Cold War between the US and the Soviet Union as a testing
and development facility for aircraft, including the U-2 and SR-71 Blackbird reconnaissance
planes.
Although it opened in 1955, its existence was only officially acknowledged by the CIA in
August 2013.
Four months after the CIA's disclosure,
President Obama became the first US
president to mention Area 51 publicly.

What goes on there today?

Although official information is sparse, it is
believed that the US military continues to use
Area 51 to develop cutting-edge aircraft.
About 1,500 people are believed to work
there, many commuting on charter flights
from Las Vegas.

Annie Jacobsen, who has written about the

history of Area 51, told the BBC that some of the world's most advanced espionage
programmes are at the site.

"Area 51 is a test and training facility. The research began with the U-2 spy plane in the
1950s and has now moved on to drones", she says.

 The Area 51 joke that became a 'possible disaster

Are there aliens and flying saucers at Area 51?

The secrecy surrounding Area 51 has helped fuel many conspiracy theories.
Most famous is the claim that the site hosts an alien spacecraft and the bodies of its pilots,
after they crashed at Roswell, New Mexico,
in 1947. The US government says there
were no aliens and the crashed craft was a
weather balloon.
Others claim to have seen UFOs above or
near the site, while some say they have been
abducted by aliens, and even experimented
on, before being returned to Earth.

And, in 1989, a man named Robert Lazar

claimed he had worked on alien technology inside Area 51. He claimed to have seen medical
photographs of aliens and that the government used the facility to examine UFOs.
Area 51's association with aliens may have served as a useful distraction for the intelligence
agencies.
"As early as 1950 the CIA developed a UFO office to deal with the sightings of unidentified
flying objects over Nevada. When people first saw the U-2 spy plane flying, no one knew
what they were seeing," says Ms Jacobsen.
"The CIA used that disinformation to their benefit by fostering an alien mythology."

What happens if people 'storm' Area 51

Matty Roberts, 20, created a Facebook event proposing that "we can run faster than their
bullets. Let's see them aliens". Two million people said they were "going", although a linked
festival has since been moved because of fears of a "possible humanitarian disaster".

Warning signs around Area 51 make it clear that no trespassers will be tolerated.
The USAF warned that Area 51 "is an open training range for the US Air Force, and we
would discourage anyone from trying to come into the area where we train American armed
forces".
It added: "The US Air Force always stands ready to protect America and its assets."

Essay
Subject: Area 51
Hypothesis: What is area 51 and what goes on there?

What is Area 51?:

Area 51 is an United States Air Force base. It is at Groom Lake, a dry lake in the desert of
Nevada, it lays 135 kilometers north of Las Vegas.
What goes on inside Area 51 is highly secured. The public is kept away with warning signs,
surveillance and armed guards.
It is also illegal to fly over Area 51, altough the site is visible on google maps. The base has
runways up to 3.7km

What goes on there?:

The government states the following: ‘Area 51 is a classified US Air Force facility in the
Nevada Test and Training Range, a massive government facility outside Las Vegas.
It was originally used by the CIA as a site to develop and test the U-2 reconnaissance plane,
which was meant to spy on the Soviet Union.’ Many people have theories about Area 51. The
most popular theory is that the government keeps aliens there or alien technology. People
have come to believe this because of the following accident.

In 1947, a United States Army Air Forces balloon crashed near Roswell, New Mexico. There
was a wide interest in the crashed ballon(“flying saucer”), the US military stated that it
wasn’t more than a weather balloon.
Interest became less and less until
the late 1970s, when “ufologists”
began promoting a couple of
conspiracy theories, claiming that
ufo’s or aliens had crashed at
Roswell and that the aliens had been
covered up by the military.

Formal letter

Hello,

Sir or miss,
Our team had an idea to make a movie about the strange things that are going on in area 51.
The idea came to mind due to it being in the news a lot and we wanted to make a movie with
all the theories people have come up with, and our own takes on it.
We know that there already are a bunch of movies about area 51 but those movies are not
based on facts. The story is about a guy who vanishes and his good friend becomes obsessed
about aliens, believing them to be the cause, with area 51 in the spotlight.
We wanted to make a very different movie based on true facts and interviews with people
who have done more research then the average person. It is going to be more of a
documentary that a movie but that is the reason you should sponsor us, we are going to make
something that has never been made before and is very different than the movies that are
already made about area 51.
Our idea for the movie is to let the viewer see what is going on in area 51 because there are a
lot of movies with interpreted information that is mostly false, we want to prevent people
from making bad decisions because they have gotten false information.
We hope you can consider our idea for a movie.

Kind regards,
Our team

Rough outline of our movie

Our movie is more like a documentary. It is more about what actually goes on in area 51. It
opens with cinematic shots of the area. To which the host then tells the public a little bit
about area 51, why it was built, and why it raises so many questions. The host then introduces
then starts interviewing the people who work, and live around area 51. They talk about what
goes on in there, why it is so secret and their own stories, why they chose to work there and
what their families thought of it.The documentary goes on to show an interview with the
president tells his opinion about it and answers a few questions that were left unanswered.
After that interview we get an exclusive look inside area 51. It turns out that aria 51 had
indeed been researching aliens for decades, but there are no live aliens. They have no actual
aliens, but they have found some UFO’s and devices that have no place of origin on earth,
and instead come from different planets and places in the galaxy.
End of the documentary
Relevance of the movie
Relevance of the movie

Why will the movie be good?

Our movie will be good because people want to know about area 51. It’s a big question mark
for us all. So it’s time that we figure out what is going on over there. Are there really aliens?
You’ll see for yourself once you see the movie.
The movie we are planning to make is a lot different than the movies about area 51 that were
made before. It will be the whole story, from beginning to end, the truth behind it all.
It will be like a documentary, with footage of the area, interviews with people who work
there and an attempt to try and film inside.

The movie will be a hit, because everyone wants to know about area 51. It will be the reveal
of the century. Thousands of people have tried to discover what is going on and we will find
out all of their secrets.
All secrets will be revealed because the people want . The people want the truth, so we are
going to get all of it. We are doing this for the satisfaction of the world, and we will get it.
