Integration of the Management Information System for Competitive Positioning 2014
Abstract
Abstracts are typically 150–250 range of words and have a fairly standard format, so the abstract of this
article have 105 words, so it not acceptable. Also the abstract of any research or other journal article should
must be contained objective part, problem statement or study gap with used methodology, technique, tools,
analysis, result, conclusion and recommendation and sometimes according to the journal that has to
published includes future study. The researcher includes the finding of the problems is good work but it
hasn’t incorporate the objectives, conclusion recommendation and methodology of the study is also the
limitation. So that in general the abstract is not clearly stated by the author’s so as to understand the reader
more cleared way.

Keywords: Key words are identified by author, strategic management, IT-enabling business processes,
business process reengineering, knowledge management, business intelligence.

Article title
The standard article/research title should be between 10 and 15 words long and should clearly identify for
the reader the purpose of the study. So that this article title has contained only 9/NINE/ words mean that is
short from standards listed then too long or too short can be confusing or misleading.

As the author stated in the methodology part of the article “The study employed an interpretive research
approach in the belief that the participants’ views might be exactly or truly experienced since their views
are constructed through values, norms, culture, and so on, which have shaped how they perceive the
world.” So that the title of the article is Descriptive.

Introduction
Introduction part should orientate the reader to the study is by introducing the question /problem,
developing background of the study, stating the purpose and rational of the research and the like. So that in
this article the background or introduction part is clearly stated and also contained the elements so as to
introduce the readers what the researcher trying to find out. In this article the researchers is trying to dig out
Integration of the Management Information System for Competitive Positioning. Researcher wisely trying
to brief and clearly stated analyzed, but the researcher cannot follow the content of the article and research
report fully and written, organized based on accepted standard article format insufficient as I reviewed.
Because the outers stated the important thing that included in the introduction part is stated like this, “The
remainder of the paper is organized as follows: Section 2 highlights the problem statement, Section 3
presents the literature review and theoretical framework as well as the key elements of integrated
management information systems for competitive positioning and Section 4 discusses the methodology
used in the study. In Section 5, the results of the study are presented, with the interpretation and discussion
of the results given in Section 6. Section 7 concludes the study and provides recommendations for future
research” and when we come to the other stated component is that the statement of the problem “This paper
reports on a study that explored how manufacturers can exploit management information systems for
competitive positioning” so the my comment is going to the outers stated by section 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 is
not stated in standard form it must be stated in the form stated the statement of the problem .

The article and its results are highly significant more using statistical tools used to analyzed the data are
useful, but presentation of data analysis in line with the research question/research checking validity,
accuracy, reliability of analyses research are no clearly considered in the research analysis contents.

Statement of the problem

A research gap is a question or a problem that has been answered or clearly stated by the existing studies or
research. As all Statement of the problem /research gap are identified, stated, but bridged up stated problem
with research gap is normally fully cleared. The researcher has explained more about the study gap but the
selected problem by the researcher can’t be fully answered the problems that faces misalignment between
business strategy and IT-enabling business processes exists in companies in the world. So that the
researcher must continue additional future study.

The Literature Review
is the review Logically organized? Does it offer a balanced critical analysis of the literature? is the majority
of the literature of recent origin? is it mainly from primary sources and of an empirical nature?

Regarding from what literature review the article reviewed is short /limit of most recent origin of literature
because the title that chosen by the author is how to fill gap companies using IT to compute the global
market. It should lacks also be compared and contrasted with the findings of other studies. It also short of
identifying any gap in the literature relating to the problem and to suggest how those gaps might be filled.
Even if those limitation occurred but the rest of using or stating by the author is very interesting, clearly
defining the research questions.

Methodology
Is the research design clearly identified? Has the data gathering instrument been described? is the
instrument appropriate? How was it developed? Were reliability and validity testing undertaken and the
results discussed? Was a pivot study undertaken?

The article stated in the methodology part is clearly answered what a standard research methodology must
contained. So that I would like to say thanks to the author because of using in standardized form.

Aims/objectives/ research question/

Have alms and objectives, a research question or hypothesis been identified? If so are they clearly stated?
Do they reflect the information presented in the literature review?

The article stated in the aims/objectives/research question part is not clearly answered what a standard
research methodology must contained not only clearly stated but also totally not included in the article. So
that I would like to say sorry to the author because of losing the most important part of the research.

Data Analysis / results

What type of data and statistical analysis was undertaken? Was it appropriate? How many of the sample
participated? Significance of the findings?

The article stated in the analysis/ result part is clearly answered what a standard research data analysis
/result must contained. So that I would like to say thanks to the author because of using in standardized
form.

Discussion/conclusion/recommendations
The significance of the findings should be stated but these should be considered within the overall strengths
and limitations of the study. Are the findings linked back to the literature review? if a hypothesis was
identified was it supported? Were the strengths and limitations of the study including generalizability
discussed? Was a recommendation for further research made?

Regarding from the article there are short /limits of hypothesis was not supported, there are also limits on
the strengths and limitations of the study including generalizability discussed. The other is a
recommendation for further research is not been clearly stated.

References

Were all the books, journals and other media alluded to in the study accurately referenced?

In this article there is recommendation part. Because of the recommendation are crucial based on what you
see a gap on problem and what you did not meet on it but important for the firm effectiveness. Conclusions
of article beyond theoretical part are defined clearly, but the reviewer considers that in the conclusion of
any article the result of analysis must be stated and conclusion part is slightly taking all part of the article.

Finally, on the reference part of article there are 34 reference articles, cases, website and others are stated.
Citation appropriateness & consistency goods, but Citation source mixes journals, websites and case study
are what I considered in the article reference part.
