Since I was a child I was passionate and curious about the world around

me. And, as the years passed by, I started to realise how much the city and the
weather in Romania started to change. When I was little, there used to be
wonderful winters, full of snow, that made our childhood worth to be
remembered. However, nowadays, winters in Romania are not cold anymore.
There is no more ice, no more snow, no more skiing. This is, in my opinion, one
of the most concerning things, and the international authorities should try to pay
more attention to this topic.
These environmental problems are not only affecting Romania, or Europe,
but the entire planet. There are droughts, wildfires and forests that are being cut
down right now as I am writing this. These problems concern Africa too. During
last months spent at university in Bucharest, I met lots of people from different
cultural backgrounds, including boys and girls from countries like Guinea,
Morocco and Algeria and, because of them, I became more aware of the
problems that Europe and Africa have in common. Besides, as we are young, we
represent the ones hat hold the most power in the process of solving the climate
and environment problems, by promoting sustainability in our everyday
practices.
Some of the projects that connected me to this topic are:
1. During highschool, from 2018 to 2022, I was a member in Interact
Club Buzău, where I did lots of volunteering activities. However,
our most successful activities included this idea of recycling and
sustainability, as it is very important for younger generations to
acknowledge the impact they have on the entire planet. I
participated in many tree-planting, wastage-collection and other
ecological works in the countryside of my county, Buzău.
2. Furthermore, nowadays, I am a member of three non-profit
organizations: “Volunteers for Ideas and Projects” (VIP Bucharest),
“The Union of the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest”
(USASE Bucharest) and “Europuls – the European Expertise
Centre in Romania” (where we focus on bringing the European
Union’s decisions closer to Romanian people). In all these
organizations we focus a lot on the environmental problems, as
these become more and more visible even in our everyday lives.
We organized trainings on the topic of ecological practices, in order
to “raise awareness of the consequences of misuse of the planet’s
resources”. In Europuls, our team discussed with EU political
decision-makers at Strasbourg and Bruxelles about climate change
problems and proposed potential solutions.
3. Also, I study at two universities, given my passion for both
international relations and interculturality: International Economic
Relations in English at the Academy of Economic Studies of
Bucharest and Foreign Languages and Literatures (Turkish and
French) at the University of Bucharest. As both these degrees cover
the topic of international culture and affairs, we study a lot about
the impact that the environmental problems have on all the
continents. Besides, I want to work in the future in the field of
diplomacy and that is why the climate problems are very important
to me, as I really want to make a change in the world and I am
dedicating every day of my life to this.

I have chosen this project because it "checks all my boxes"

when it comes to the things that I expect from an Erasmus project:
both the topic and the location of the project interest me. Climate
change and environmental problems are ones of the most important
topics in our today’s world, as they affect each one of us on a daily
basis. When it comes to the expectations I have from this project, I
think its activities would help me understand better the concept of
sustainability. Also I would like to get to know better the Moroccan
culture. I've always been fascinated by this culture as a fluent
French speaker, because, in my opinion, Morocco has one of the
richest cultures in the world, going from food to history, to
traditional arts and so on. I have a C1 DALF Certificate in French,
C2 Cambridge Certificate in English and I’m currently learning
Turkish language, estimating a B1 level. Furthermore, I want to get
involved in the activities of the project as much as possible, as I
want to really improve my debating, critical and communicating
skills. I want to learn more on this topic because, as a youth worker
and volunteer, I look forward to spreading this information in my
communities and act on it in order to make a change by organising
trainings and other ecological events.
I have a lot of experience when it comes to doing research,
debating and public speaking, so I think these activities would suit
me really well. I would prepare for this project by doing further
research on the topic of this Erasmus experience and by learning
more about the local Moroccan culture. Moreover, I fit well within
the target group as, at the moment, I am 19 years old and I possess
skills such as knowing multiple foreign languages above-mentioned
and being a very determined and sociable person. I am a journalist
at a Romanian on-line newspaper about education and I also write
articles for the Europuls’ website and I think this would be a good
skill for transferring my knowledge to other people and
communities. That’s why I think I would be an appropriate person
that could do the tasks given during the project and furtherly share
the information I was offered.
