ATTRACTIONS OF NEPAL

Nepal is attractive destination for most travelers. Nepal has amazing and unique sights and experiences
that many of the typical traveling destinations lack. Nepal has been open to tourism for just over fifty
years.Now there is a rise in visitation. Green hills, peaceful monasteries, elegant mountain lakes,
cultural vistas and tropical forests are the major attractions of Nepal. Nepal consists of some of the
highest mountain peaks in the world as well.

Among the tourist attractions in Nepal that deserve a special mention, Buddhist shrines and Hindu
temples that dot the Nepal landscape are of special importance. The temples of Janakpur are of special

There are many natural attractions in Nepal. One of the major natural attractions in Nepal is the Mount
Everest. Mount Everest is, perhaps, the first thing that comes to mind when anyone thinks of Nepal.
While Everest does not offer hiking trails to visitors there are many hiking routes in the surrounding
Himalayan Mountains that offers stunning views of the great mountain. Kanchanjunga region, everest
region, langtang region and annapurna region are the major trekking regions of Nepal. The Royal
Chitwan National Park , Sagarmatha National Park, Rara National park are other natural attractions of
Nepal. In this vastness of nature you will find a variety of wildlife. There are lots of birds, elephant,
monkys, reptiles and other animals. The Pokhara Valley is another attraction of nepal which is enhanced
by its lovely lakes Phewa, Begnas and Rupa. Pokhara offers the magnificent views of Dhaulagiri,
Manaslu, Machhapuchhre, five peaks of Annapurna and others. One of the most famous religious places
of pilgrimage of Nepal is Gosainkunda lake. The area is surrounded by high mountains. There are some
famous lakes such as Saraswati Bhairv, Sourya and Ganesh Kund, etc. kakani, Daman, Nagarkot,
Jomsom, Tatopani etc are some other natural attractions of Nepal.

There are many towns, cities, temples and other man made attractions in Nepal. Kathmandu is the
country’s main city. There are some amazingly constructed temples, shrines, and ancient palaces
concentrated in Durbar Square, located in the mid of the city. Here the tourist can engage in shopping,
while viewing impressive architecture laced in Hindu charm. Bhaktapur, located in the Kathmandu
Valley, is also a wonderful place to visit. It is a small town with untouched and authentic architectures.
A visitor will be able to view pagoda-style Hindu shrines and impressive houses. Lumbini is the birth
place of Lord Buddha. The broken Ashokan Pillar, old monasteries, images of Buddha’s mother Maya
Devi, etc. are still preserved in Lumbini. The temples of Janakpur are of special historical significance and

Muktinath lies in the district of mustang . The temple is situated on a high mountain range and is visited
during fair weather. Gorkha is situated on a hill overlooking the snowy peaks of the himalayas.There is a

Nepal is not only the land of mountains; it is also the land of festivals. There are more than 50 festivals
celebrated in Nepal every year. While the national festivals have fixed dates, religious festivals are set by
astrologers following the lunar calendar. The best part about the festivals in Nepal is that all the events
are celebrated with the same enthusiasm and celebrated the way it used to be hundreds of years ago
when people had no other means of entertainment. Dashain, tihar, holi, shivaratri, Lohsar, saraswati
pooja, Buddha jayanti etc.

Nepal is also very famous for art and crafts. The artists of Nepal have expressed their skills in different
metal, paintings and in wood. Most of the art express religious feelings. Metal works, wood carving,
stone carving, masks are other attractions of Nepal.
