ABSTRACT
The study aimed at determining the influence of Information and Communication
Technology (ICT) in understanding of Economics in senior secondary schools in Langtang
North Local Government, Plateau State. The study adopted a descriptive survey design.
Five research questions and two null hypotheses guided the study. The instruments used
for day collection were Economics Teacher Utilization of Information and Communication
Technology Questionnaire (ETUITQ) and Economics Students Utilization of Information
and Communication Technology Questionnaire (ESUICTQ). The instruments were tested
on 180 respondents (30 Economics Teacher and 150 Economics Students). The reliability of
the instruments were determined using Cronbach Alpha, obtained 0.78 at 0.05 level of
significance. The population of the study comprises 75 Economics Teachers and 2250
Economics Students. A sample size of 30 Economics Teachers and 150 Economics Students
were used. A simple random sampling technique was employed. The data were analyzed
using frequency count simple percentage method while Chi-square in testing the
hypotheses at 0.05 level. The results indicated that teachers and students were exposed to
ICT and ICT influences student's performance, and as well teacher's efficiency. It was
concluded that teachers and students needs more enlightenment and special training in the
use of ICT in teaching and learning of Economics .
