1 Consider figure 1 in your textbook and read the text.

a How fast is your heart beating right now? Place the index and third finger of your left hand on the thumb side
of the wrist of your right hand. You can now feel your pulse.
Count the number of beats in one minute.

b Why is the heart of the cyclist in figure 1 beating many times faster than your heart?

2 Which organ systems work together in the body of the cyclist, especially during the race?
