Pickup Bed

The pickup bed consists of:

• styleside pickup bed (pan assembly).

• pickup box tie-down hooks.

The styleside pickup bed:

• is offered in cab styles of super cab and crew cab.

The tailgate assembly consists of:

• tailgate.
• tailgate hinges.
• tailgate support cables.
• torsion rod.

• rear view camera (if equipped).
• power locking tailgate latch release (if equipped).

Removal and Installation Procedure revision date: 11/27/2018 

Pickup Bed

Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.

Refer to: Jacking and Lifting (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).

2. Remove the fuel tank filler pipe.

Refer to: Fuel Tank Filler Pipe (310-01 Fuel Tank and Lines - 2.3L EcoBoost (201kW/273PS), Removal
and Installation).

3. Remove the rear bumper.

Refer to: Rear Bumper (501-19 Bumpers, Removal and Installation).

• Detach the wire harness retainer and disconnect the electrical connector.
• Route the wiring through the tailgate.

5. Remove the bolts.

Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

6. On both sides.
Release the straps from the pickup body.

7. Remove the bolts and the tailgate.

Torque: 35 lb.ft (48 Nm)

8. Remove the rear lamp assemblies.
Refer to: Rear Lamp Assembly (417-01 Exterior Lighting, Removal and Installation).

9. NOTE: Rap cab pickup bed shown, Double cab similar.

NOTE: The pickup bed bolts are one-time-use only. Install new bolts whenever the bolts are removed.

• Remove the bolts and the pickup bed.

Torque: 92 lb.ft (125 Nm)
• Discard the pickup bed bolts.

Installation

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
