BUS 1105 Discussion Forum Unit-3

For this task, I'd like to talk about an article from BBC news website, that I accept contains all three
qualities of great writing.

Title of the article – “Lorry driver shortage threatens Haribo sweets”

URL - https://www.bbc.com/news/business-57690505

The article mentions how the German sweets company, Haribo, is confronting a tremendous challenge
of sending their items due to the deficiency of lorry drivers. The main motive for this issue is due to the
pandemic, and the unfilled HGV driving tests. The government has stated that they are progressing to
take action to extend driving test capacity as soon as possible and meanwhile , the company has chosen
to look for help from other collaborating food and beverage companies as a temporary arrangement
(BBC News, 2021).

This article meets the reader’s expectations, because it clarifies the title on a broader and deeper level,
rather than deceiving the readers. The creator also has done an extraordinary work of being
exceptionally clear and concise, whereas keeping the article very detailed and engaging. Moreover, it
was discernibly a really brief article with a clear point. But likely one of the main perspectives that I
noticed would be how productive and successful it was. As I said before, this was a really brief read,
which is exceptionally effective. Also, in my conclusion, the article is suitable and comprehensive to all
age groups, and which helps to reach a broader group of people. The author also did an incredible work
delivering a priceless message that remains with the readers.

Some parts of the article are as follow;

“German confectionery giant Haribo has said it is struggling to deliver its sweets to shops in the UK
because of a shortage of lorry drivers. It said that like many other producers and retailers, it was
"experiencing challenges" that were hitting supplies. The haulage industry has blamed the pandemic and
Brexit for thousands of unfilled HGV driver jobs. The government said it had taken action, by increasing
HGV driving test capacity and funding apprentice ships. The problems affect all Haribo sweets, including
gold bears and Tangfastics. The company said it was "working with partners across the food and drink
industry" to address the problem.” (BBC News, 2021)
