Thanksgiving Day is celebrated to remember how Native Americans helped European

settlers to survive their first year in America. But some people rather hold Unthanksgiving
Day to remember that English destroyed a whole tribe during a conflict just 15 years later
and how native Americans had to fight to survive after the arrival of Europeans.
Thanksgiving was made an annual national holiday in 1863 by Abraham Lincoln. this year is
the 400th anniversary of the event which is seen as “the first Thanksgiving.” But there were
many celebrations of harvests in Christian communities before the 1621 famous feast but
they were local and could take place at any time.
Thanksgiving is the most important family holiday in the USA, because people usually take
day off work on Friday and have four days weekend so they can visit extended family. it's
most traditional to roast turkey but in the late 20th century deep frying became popular,
but this method leads to a very unhealthy meal and if it's badly done you can get food
poisoning.
