Near-end detector
Paper detector
Figure 1-2
Paper detectors
❏ Near‐end detector: A microswitch that detects the near‐end of roll paper. When the
detector senses a roll paper near‐end, the PAPER LED lights.
Note:
If roll paper has a paper spool that is out of the specified range, the near-end detector may not work
correctly.
❏ Paper detector: A microswitch that detects whether paper is present or not. When
the detector senses a paper end, printing stops. Install new roll
paper, and close the printer cover; then printing restarts.
Note:
If you use paper other than the specified paper, the paper detector may not work correctly.
Note:
Whether the cover is open or not does not affect the status reported by the paper detector.

❏ Memory switch 4
Note: MSW4-1 is valid only when the Chinese font is loaded. This setting should be used only for printing Chinese
transactions. It provides an option for printing alphanumeric characters in a narrow width or in the same width as
Chinese characters. It is recommended to turn this setting off if the transaction is not in Chinese language.
Single width is 42 CPL and double width is 21CPL for font A and 56CPL or 28CPL for font B respectively, except
Bengali, Punjabi and Khmer languages, which are proportional font.
Note 1: All the functions defined in memory switch 5 are effective only when Unicode is enabled.
Note 3: RTL is Right to Left text and LTR is Left to Right text direction. This is not text alignment. RTL and LTR is the way a
text is Arabized, not the way a text is shown.

Chapter 4
Disassembly and Assembly
This chapter describes assembly and disassembly procedures for the TM‐T88V.
CAUTION:
❏ Always remove the power supply unit from the printer before working. Power flows to
the internal circuit boards even if you turn the printer off with the power switch. You
may damage the printer if you work while the power supply is still attached.
❏ Remove all peripheral equipment connected to the printer before starting work.
❏ Connect or disconnect the flexible flat cable (FFC) straight into or out of the
connector to prevent problems that may result in a malfunction.
❏ Wear a grounded wrist band when handling the internal circuit boards to prevent
damage from static electricity.
❏ Be careful not to subject the circuit boards to shock or vibration, because this may
damage them.
❏ To prevent contamination that may result in a malfunction, do not touch the circuit
board or cable terminals with your hands.
Remove all the parts/units on the way to the target part.
For assembly, reverse the steps.
“Assembly Points” headings indicate points where you need to pay special attention when
assembling. Be sure to follow the instructions given in the places where lubrication or
adjustment is required.
