Background (Custom)

Creator’s Note – Making a custom background is RAW, as page 125 of the PHB states: “The sample backgrounds in this
chapter provide both concrete benefits (features, proficiencies, and languages) and roleplaying suggestions. To
customize a background, you can replace one feature with any other one, choose any two skills, and choose a total of
two tool proficiencies or languages from the sample backgrounds.”

Skills – Any 2

 As always, skill usage and skill dispersal can vary heavily from table to table, so talk to your party & DM before
you commit to anything.

Tools – Any 2

commit to anything.

Feature – Any 1 of these ideal features CAN BE highly optimal

Strixhaven “College” Initiate. (SCC)

 You get to select 2x cantrips and 1x 1 st level spell from college selection options
 Colleges Listed Bonus Spells on 1st to 5th levels

Initiate of High Sorcery (DSotDQ)

 You gain the Initiate of High Sorcery feat. Gaining 1 wizard cantrip and 2x 1 st level spells (from options)
 In addition, the Mages of High Sorcery provide you with free, modest lodging and food indefinitely at any
occupied Tower of High Sorcery and for one night at the home of an organization member.

Squire of Solamnia (DSotDQ)

 You gain the Squire of Solamnia feat.


 Mount Up. Mounting or dismounting costs you only 5 feet of movement.
 Precise Strike. Once per turn, when you make a weapon attack roll against a creature, you can cause the attack
roll to have advantage. If the attack hits, you roll a d8 and add the number rolled as a bonus to the attack's
damage roll. You can use this benefit a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, but a use is expended
only if the attack hits. You regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
 In addition, the Knights of Solamnia provide you free, modest lodging and food at any of their fortresses or
encampments.

Divine Contact (AAG)

 You gain the Magic Initiate feat from the Player's Handbook and must choose cleric for the feat.

Wildspace Adaptation (AAG)

 You gain the Tough feat from the Player's Handbook. Gaining +2 hp per level.
 In addition, you learned how to adapt to zero gravity. Being weightless doesn't give you disadvantage on any of
your melee attack rolls.

Equipment packs for the custom background – Pick 1

 Inheritor, if you pick inherence…to get your "inherence", 15gp and all your “selected” tools
 Investigator: because you want the Magnifying glass & 10gp
 Celebrity Adventurer's Scion: because you want the 30gp & a Disguise kit
 Trade Sheriff: because you want the 17gp & Thieves Tools
 Guild Merchant: because you want the 15gp, Mule & Cart
 Haunted One: because you want the 1sp, "Horror Trinker" Spyglass & Monster hunter’s pack
 Iron Route Bandit: because you want the 5gp, Pack saddle & Burglar’s pack
 Grinner: because you want the 15gp, Instrument & Disguise pack
 Volstrucker/Golgari Agent: because you want the 10gp & Poisoner’s kit

Anything else that starts with your wanted “not a tool” items
