INTRODUCTION

Welcome to my Portfolio! This portfolio contains all of my field study 2 experiences

and what I learned. This course helps me in preparing for internships by providing real-

world experience in a classroom setting. Because of this course, I gained an

understanding of the various types of students in the classroom and how they behave. I

believe that everything I have learned in this course is important and will be helpful in the

field. I hope that the information in this portfolio will be also useful to readers.

FIELD STUDY STUDENT BIOGRAPHY

My name is Reo Mondejar, and I am 22 years old. I

was born in the year 2000 on the 5th of August. I currently live
in Bascaran, Daraga, Albay. Like others, I enjoy watching k-
dramas, listening to OPM and Korean music, learning new
languages like Korean and Spanish, and browsing YouTube.
My mother’s name is Lilia Mondejar, and my father’s name is
Agustin Mondejar; he died when I was a child, but I have
certain memories with him that I will always cherish in my
heart. I have twelve siblings in all, but unfortunately, seven of them have passed away. I
am the youngest one. My mom is the only one left, who raised us. Every day, she makes
brooms and asks my older brother to sell them so that we can survive our daily expenses.
That’s why I want to finish college so that I can help my family and lift them out of poverty.

In 2013, I graduated from Bascaran Elementary School. And in 2017, I graduated

from Bascaran High School. In addition, I graduated from Bascaran Senior High School
in 2019 with a GAS strand. And now I’m a student at Bicol University’s College of
Education, where I’m pursuing a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education degree. Truth be
told, I didn’t really want to pursue education back then—not because I didn’t want to—but
rather because I wasn’t sure if I could do it, if I could do it well, whether I could take the
responsibilities that came with being a teacher. However, if this is my fate, I want to
embrace it wholeheartedly. My ambition is to become a great teacher. A teacher who can
touch the hearts and lives of her students. I will teach not for monetary gain, but because
it is what I want to do and I want my students to learn from me. That is my goal as a good
teacher. To achieve this dream, I still have a long way to go. But of course, I must first
graduate, so that is one of my current goals.

4
Being able to graduate is the most important goal in my life, and not just because
it is my dream. But I also know that this is my family’s dream for me, as I am the only one
of my twelve siblings who is able to attend college. That’s why I really wanted to finish
studying. Especially since I am the only one, my family’s hoping to help them. That’s why,
whatever trials I go through along the way, I promise myself that I will not give up no
matter what. Even though there are times that I think of doing it, every time that I will think
of my family. I just can’t.

5
BELIEFS IN TEACHING AND LEARNING

Teaching is not only a noble profession, but also a responsibility and duty. A
teacher is more than just someone who imparts knowledge; they are a symbol of learning.
At the height of the pandemic, the teaching instructions became blended learning and
modular. I have personally witnessed what happens when there is no teacher; the
children don’t learn much. When the class returned to face-to-face, it became evident that
many of the students had difficulty with reading and writing. So, at that point, I realized
how important a teacher’s job is, and how significant a role they play in children’s learning.
So I have a lot of respect and admiration for teachers. They play an important role in our
society. Good doctors, lawyers, police officers, and other professions cannot exist without
a teachers. Moreover, teaching is a passion. If a teacher is passionate about teaching,
her students will surely learn. If she loves teaching, I’m sure she won’t give up on her
students even if they are the slowest learners. I’m sure that she will do everything to
inspire and motivate her students to learn. Furthermore, a teacher who is passionate
about teaching can touch the hearts and lives of her students. While I believe that learning
can happen inside and outside the classroom. We can learn from through the help of our
teachers and we can also learn through our own mistakes and life experiences.

Worksheet for Episode 1- Classroom Management

MY CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT PLAN

Philosophical Statement
When I think about classroom management, I imagine a peaceful and supportive
learning environment where the only noise is academic noise. In my opinion, effective
classroom management means that teachers can manage her students effectively.
Where one look from teacher to the student, the student will listen and she doesn’t have
to scold and lecture them repeatedly . In addition, the classroom must be orderly, neat,
safe and conducive to learning. An environment where all students are encouraged to
not only learn but also have fun, while respecting everyone around them. A physical
space where children can sit comfortably, see and understand what the teacher is
saying, and interact with their classmates. A place that encourages students to learn at
their own pace, at their own style and without interruption. As learning can go beyond
the classroom, but what we learn inside is just as important. This is what I believe, and
my goal.
Classroom Rules and Procedures
Here are the classroom rules and procedures that I will formulate to ensure the disciple
and order in my classroom:
1. Respect everyone’s around you.
2. Come to class prepared.
3. Listen to your teacher when he/she is speaking.
4. Always come to school early.
5. Be kind and honest.
6. Take turns and share.

9
7. Raise your hand if you want to speak.
8. When you need help, politely ask for it.
9. Listen and follow directions.
10. Do not leave the classroom without permission.
Teacher-Student Relationships
They say that the classroom is the students’ second home and the teacher is their
second parent, but because I have never been a parent, I will treat my students as my
younger brothers and sisters. There welfare and safety is my top priority. I will treat
them with the same courtesy or respect that I expect from them. I will treat them all
equally, without favoritism. I can be their friend, but not to the point that they will lose
respect for me as their teacher; there should still be a limit, and respect should always
be present.
Schedules and Timeframes
In setting-up my class schedules, I will base on the grade level and age of my students.
I will see to it that my activities and lessons are well balanced and developmentally
appropriate. I will also include time breaks, transitions, motivations and rewards to keep
my students engaged.
Classroom Structure, Design and Arrangements
Since a classroom should be developmentally and age-appropriate for children, the
structure, design, and layout of my classroom are based on the grade level, age, and
interest of my students. Classroom furniture should be created with the child’s age and
interests in mind and be risk-free. Additionally, the walls of the classroom should have
an attractive design to draw children in and encourage them to attend class. There
ought to be enough room for circle time as well. Moreover, there should be a play area,
reading area, and area for quiet or nap time.
Classroom Safety Rules and Procedures
I'll make sure my students are in a risk-free environment. I will take steps to eliminate
potential sources of accidents both inside and outside my classroom, such as sharp
objects that can cause injury. Because I believe that as a teacher, it is my responsibility
to keep my students safe. My top priority is their wellbeing. I'll go over the safety
precautions with my students both inside and outside of the classroom.

10
Strategies for Rewards and Consequences
I will reward my students who do well and actively participate in class activities, while I
will give punishment depending on the mistake my student made, but I will see to it that
the punishment is still appropriate I for what the child did wrong, for example there is a
child who throws tantrums and throws away his toys and things, the punishment I will
give him is that he will put away all his mess by himself and he cannot play for a few
days, until he realizes his mistake. The punishment I give also depends on the severity
of the mistake, if it’s just a simple mistake and not on purpose, I’ll just tell the child, and
help him reflect on what he did wrong. I want my students to learn from their mistakes
and not repeat them again.

Notice:
After reading and reviewing the classroom learning management plan from different
sources and creating your own plan, answer the following questions.

1. What salient components have you noted?

Answer: Some of the salient components that I noticed are that all of the classroom
learning management plans, despite coming from different sources, are almost the same,
such as how it talks about proper classroom behavior such as listening to the teacher,
respecting others, and so on.

2. Why is there a need to utilize the information to create your classroom

management plan?

Answer: It is important to utilize the information to create a classroom management plan

in such a way that it provides us with an idea of how and what the key components of a
classroom management plan are.

11
Reflect:
What were your realizations after creating your classroom learning management
plan?

Answer: I’ve realized that it’s not easy to think and make your own classroom learning
management plan, and you also need to think about it carefully. Because of this, I
understood better and realized what kind of classroom I want one day.

Activity 2:
1. Describe how the teacher utilized the resource/instructional materials.

Answer: I can say that the teacher did a great job with the teaching resources. She asked
her students to watch the family-related video clip that we made and ask a variety of
questions about it. While on teaching the letter Ff, the teacher first demonstrates how a
letter Ff looks by presenting the 3D model of the letter, and then she lets each student go
in front and trace it individually. Then, she presented examples of objects that begin with
the letter Ff by showing them flash cards. She then asked the students for examples, after
which she distributed the worksheets.

2. Describe students responded and participated.

Answer: The students eagerly participated in the activities we did even if it is just simple.

Reflection:
What did you realize after assisting your resource teacher in preparing instructional
materials?

Answer: I have realized that doing an instructional materials is not easy, it really takes
effort and is quite time consuming, and it is expensive especially if it is non-digital, so
maybe that’s why other teachers are mostly using digital instructional materials. But
although it’s time consuming and expensive, it’s fulfilling when you see that the children
are happy with the instructional materials you made. I have said that it was time consuming
because we started at four in the afternoon after FS in making a instructional materials
and then it took us eight o’clock to finish it. That’s why I really admire teachers because
they can do it alone.

Worksheet For Episode 4 - Assistantship in Developing Assessment
Tools

NAME: REO M. MONDEJAR COURSE/BLOCK: BECED 4-5

Your Task
You will participate and assist your FS Resource Teacher in giving traditional and
authentic forms of assessment for formative or summative purposes. Please be guided by
the following:

1. Confer with your resource teacher about the lessons for the week. Ask your
resource teacher what you can do to assist him/her in the assessment phase of the
lesson, e.g., contribute/formulate assessment tasks, supervise students as they do
assessment tasks, etc.

2. After conducting the assessment, answer the following:

a. Are the assessment tasks aligned with the learning objectives?

Answer: Yes, the assessment tasks are aligned with the learning objectives.

b. What specific assessment tasks were given to the students? Then identify if it is
a traditional or authentic assessment.

Assessment Tasks Traditional or Authentic

Worksheets Traditional Assessment
Quiz Traditional Assessment
Open-ended questions Authentic Assessment
Games Authentic Assessment

c. Among the assessment tasks, which are formative assessments?

Summative assessment?

Answer: I believe that among the assessment tasks, games and open-ended questions
are examples of formative assessment because they occur during lessons, whereas
quizzes and worksheets are examples of summative assessment because they are
administered by the teacher after the lesson.

25
Let’s Reflect!
Answer the following questions:

1. What are the good points in the conduct of the assessment?

Answer: The good points in the conduct of the assessment is that offer useful data
regarding student learning. They inform us of the lessons learned by the pupils, their level
of understanding, and their areas of difficulty.

2. What are things that did not go very well during the conduct of the
assessment?

Answer: Nothing much, the assessment went smoothly. However, not in all cases,
because sometimes there are students who don’t want to join the game or don’t want to
answer the worksheet.

3. If you will conduct the same assessment for the same lesson in the future,
what modification you will do to improve your assessment?

Answer: I think the modification I will make to improve my assessment is I will make sure
that the assessment I give is appropriate for the child’s grade level, age and level of
understanding.

Let’s Create!
Confer with your resource teacher about the coverage of the summative exam. Then
create a 40-item test as an assessment tool (traditional assessment) with TOS (table of
specification). It can be multiple-choice or a combination of different types. Also, ask your
resource teacher about the specific learning outcome within the second grading period.
Then create a sample authentic assessment with a rubric that can be used by the teacher.
Attach a copy of the assessment tools as you submit this learning episode.

Worksheet For Episode 5 - Bulletin Board Display

Learning Tasks

Observation Guide for Board Display

1. Visit the school again and look for school Bulletin Boards Display and examine
the board display.
2. Where are the bulletin board display found and are they in places where
target viewers can see them?

Answer: I saw two bulletin boards. In my opinion, it is in the right place if the target viewers
are visitors; however, if the target viewers are pupils, therefore it isn't because the height
is still too high for their eyes to read the text, especially since the font is small. While the
second bulletin board is right next to the first, unlike the first, the text is large enough for
everyone to read, but not for small children because it is still high. The height should only
be appropriate for children.

3. What are the display all about, what images and colors do you see and how
are the pieces of information arranged?

Answer: The first bulletin includes numerous charts (such as the age profile and birthday
of the students), but as you can see, it is lacking in information. It has not yet been finalized,
according to our resource teacher. The second bulletin board is about the rules in the
new normal setting. The layout of information and images is determined by the purpose
of the display boards.

4. What materials were used in making the displays?

Answer: The materials are made of paper.

33
5. Do you notice some errors?

Answer: So far, I haven’t noticed any errors such as misspellings, grammatical errors, or
the like.

6. Are the messages clear and easily understood?

Answer: As you can see, the text on the first bulletin is a little too small for everyone to
read and its lack of information needed, so its not clear. Nonetheless, I think it is readable.
The messages in the second bulletin, on the other hand, are clear and simple.

First bulletin board

Second bulletin board

Tell me something about the bulletin board…

As you can see, on the first bulletin it contains the information on classroom officers,
homeroom officers, age profile of the students, organizational charts, basic data,
attendance charts, cleaners, physical facility and birthday chart as it is what the charts are
about. But unfortunately, as I’ve said it doesn’t have any information yet because it's not
done yet. Whereas the second bulletin is about the rules in new normal settings.

35
Recommendations To Enhance The Bulletin Board Display…
My suggestion for both bulletins is that the font size should be big so that it can be read
from a distance. Second, perhaps we should design a layout that would grab the
audience’s interest. In order to persuade the pupils or audience to read it, we should add
more creativity into the design. Because, as you can see, the combination of color and
designs are not so creative or appealing. And lastly, the height should be appropriate for
the child.

My Analysis:

1. Did the board display design reflect the likes/interests of its target audience? Why
or Why not?

Answer: Well, I think it depends on who the target audience is, if the students I think it
doesn’t reflect the interest or likes of the students because the design is not so attractive
for the students especially kinder. But, if the target audience is an adult, then maybe yes,
I think it may reflect their interest or likes.

2. Was the language used clear and simple for the target audience to understand?
Why or Why not?

Answer: Well, I’m not sure, because the first bulletin board doesn’t have much information
or don’t have any information yet, but if I will based on the title of the charts, I think its
simple and clear. Whereas on the second bulletin board, I think it’s simple and clear and
can be understand by many audience because it was written in Filipino.

3. What do you think was the purpose of the board display? Was it effective? Why or
Why not?

Answer: The purpose of the board display was to communicate or provide information,
such as the new normal rules. This type of tool is very useful for sharing information
because it can reach a lots of people and spread information.

4. What suggestions can you make?

Answer: I suggest to add more creativity and information for the audience to learn more.

Reflections:

1. To be able to come up with an effective Bulletin Board Display, what skills should
you have to come up with effective board display name at least 5 skills. Elaborate
on why each skill is needed.
Answer: I believe that the following skills are necessary for us to have an effective bulletin board
display: First, we need good observation skills in order to know what design will pique the

39
interest or attention of our target audience and, of course, in order to get an idea of the topic that
we will put on our bulletin board. The second skill is planning so that we can create an effective
bulletin board. We should think about what we should and should not put on our bulletin board.
Third, we need effective communication skills in order to properly communicate the purpose
of our bulletin board through the text that we will post on it. The fourth skill is organization, for us
to effectively and properly organize the information on our bulletin. It should be organized so that
those who look at it will not be confused of the information. And the last skill that we need is
creativity, which will allow us to create a beautiful bulletin board that will grab the attention of our
target audience.

2. Which of the skills you named above do you think you already have? Recall your
past experiences in making a board display. How do you practice your skills?
Answer: For me, among the five skills I mentioned are the skills I already have are good
observation skills, creativity and organization. I know for a fact that children love colorful
things, and you can capture their attention if your bulletin board design is also childlike. That is
something I frequently observe among young children. I used to be good at these skills that I
mentioned. When I was in elementary school, I loved to draw and make creative things, such as
flowers made of straw or paper. Sometimes, I make it as our home decoration. But, to be honest,
right now, I seem to be lacking in creativity. But I will do my best to get this skill back. In practicing
these skills, my way to practice my creativity is by drawing in ibis paint x, and sometimes editing
in Lightroom. While observation is something I can do naturally, observing the things around me
is natural to me. While being organized, I naturally practiced it, like organizing files on my
cellphone and my things.

3. Which skills do you still need to develop? What concrete steps will you take on how
you can improve or acquire these skills?

Answer: Effective communication, planning, and originality, I think, are the skills I still need to
work on. Even though I mentioned in number 2 that I have creative skill, I believe it still has room
for improvement. Regarding the acquisition of these skills, I believe that these specific skills can
be learned naturally, such as planning, which we can perform simply by outlining the tasks that
we still need to complete, such as making daily to-do list. While interacting with others allows us
to practice our communication skills. Last but not least, we can exercise our creativity by
embracing art. I think this will help in our creativity because people who appreciate art can be
creative in their own ways.

Worksheet For Episode 6 - Community Linkages And Professional
Engagement

The problem of education is everybody’s problem. As building literacy is our collective

responsibility, so too is improving our schools, our collective responsibility. We
must build bridges between the school And the community.”

– Forencio Adab, Former DepEd Secretary

Learning Tasks

1.Identify various stakeholders within the school and community in relation to the teaching
profession, and identify the different ways in which we involve these stakeholders in the
educative process.

Your Stakeholders How Do You Engage Your Stakeholders?

Parents I believe we can involve parents by inviting them to events
such as when there are programs at school and inviting them
to watch their children perform. We can also invite them to
help out at school brigade. We can also interact them
through PTA meetings, where we can share information such
as how their children are doing. So, they will have a better
understanding of how their child behaves at school.
Students We can engage the students by encouraging them to
participate or attend events. Also, by knowing our students
like what is their interest or hobbies. By doing so, we can
develop lessons and activities that will capture their interest.
Therefore, will help them engage in their learning. In addition
to this, we can involve them in their learning by simply
providing them with constructive feedback, it let’s them know

41
strengths and weaknesses or on what skills or abilities they
still need to improve or develop .
Barangay officials Based on my observations, when there are school events
that we can invite to attend, such as graduation, etc. We can
also ask for their assistance in maintaining peace during
events or parades. We need the help of the barangay tanods
to ensure that there are no accidents during the parade.
Principals I believe we can involve the principals by asking their
feedback or their help and support in determining what is
best for the students covered. The principal is the school’s
supervisor and disciplinarian within the school campus, so
they know what is best for the students. For the sake of the
schools, principals and teachers must collaborate.

2. Being a pre-service teacher, how will you be able to build relationships with the
different community partners?

Answers: As a teacher, I believe that by being a good person I will be able to establish
positive relationships with the various community partners. Because I believe that if you're
a good person, you can get along with everyone.

3. Read the situation below and try to reflect on it.

It was the last week of February and the school head of Benzon High School called the
first parent teacher conference. Teacher Janelle, a Grade 7 Adviser was excited to give
the class cards for his 35 learner’s . On the day of the first Parent teacher conference,
she was expecting all parents invited would be present. However, there were only
five(5) parents who attended. Majority, could not come due to some concerns. She got

42
worried because it was already the end of the school day, and she had yet to give 45 class
cards to parents who failed to attend.

Questions & Answers:

1. Based on teacher Janelle case, what do you think is the challenge for her?

Answer: If we read it carefully, the challenge is not how teacher Janelle will distribute the
remaining class cards to the parents who did not attend, especially since the class is about
to end, but rather on how she will persuade the remaining parents to attend the parent
teacher conference, even if they are busy, so that she can distribute the remaining class
cards.

2. If you experience the same problem in the future. What would you think is the
reason why many parents do not attend the Parents teacher conference?
Answers: I think the primary reason parents are unable to attend the parent-
teacher conference is because they are preoccupied with work. So, rather than
attending the meeting, they prefer to work because they need to earn money to
buy food or other necessities in house.

3. What are your realizations in teachers Janelle case?

Answers: Because of teacher Janelle’s case, I unconsciously think what I would
do if I were in her shoes. In the case of teacher Janelle, I realized how difficult a
teacher’s job is and how difficult it is to establish a good relationship with the
student’s parents especially that they come from different backgrounds, which
means different beliefs and cultures. I can already see how challenging it will be to
get along with them, especially if you have different cultures and beliefs. However,
it is our responsibility as teachers to treat them well and with respect, even if they
hold different beliefs with us.

43
4. What specific steps will you take to encourage parents to attend Parents
Teacher Conference and other school programs?
Answers: To set a welcoming tone, I think the first step should be to send a warm
invitation to all of your students' parents and/or guardians such as through email
and paper. Consider the parents' availability and whether they will not be disturbed
in their work so that it does not become an excuse for them not to attend. Also,
include the topic or agenda of the meeting in the letter to encourage parents to
attend.

remember that involve the community (colleagues, parents, and the
community) and their role/functions in the activity.

Reflection On The Field Study Area Observe

During my field study 1 and 2, I have realized that teaching is fun but a very challenging
profession. Happy in a sense that every time a students address me as their teacher, or
every time I see their smiles when they are singing and dancing during our meeting time
1 and Every time they ask for my help in fs 2, it makes my heart very happy. And I know I
will never forget this feeling. But as I’ve said, it is also challenging. I said it, because I’ve
personally went through kung paano magsaway sa isang bata pero hindi naman sakin
nakikinig. No matter how many times I told him na bumababa sa bintana kasi baka
mahulog siya, pero tinatawanan niya lang ako. But I know that in the actual classroom ay
ganito talaga, not all our students will behave and will listen to our order, meron at meron
naghahabulan din dyan na parang sina tom and Jerry, and there are also kids who easily
throw tantrums when they don’t get what they want, and so on. Mga eksena ba na ganito
na talagang napapaisip nalang ako kung paano nakakaya ng isang guro na ihandle ang
lahat-lahat.

Furthermore, I’ve realized how difficult it is to come up with and create instructional
materials. It is difficult to come up of an appropriate and engaging instructional materials
for children. I was therefore happy to see that our resource teacher appreciates what we
worked on and that the student enjoys the instructional materials we created. It eases our
tiredness. That is why, as I previously stated, teaching is both enjoyable and challenging.
Having said that, perhaps a teacher’s passion for teaching is what motivates him/her to
stay in the field or continue teaching despite the challenges. That’s why I’ve realized how
important passion is in teaching because I feel that if a person doesn’t have passion in
what she is doing, she might give up right away. And also I’ve understood how crucial
classroom management and patience in teaching kindergarten class.
