Hello everyone! My name is Briana Perez, and I am twenty-eight years old. I was born and
raised in Los Angeles, CA currently residing in the city of Whittier. I am a graduate student from Cal
State University of Fullerton with a degree in communications but as of this semester I have decided to
return to school to take some refresher courses, take some classes I’ve always wanted to learn more
about, and to earn a degree in Psychology. The reasons for this are the human mind is something that
has always intrigued me, and I feel it is important to further your education because we only have one
life to live so why not make the most of it by learning more and gaining a more versatile outlook on
life. My favorite thing about geography is how different cultures and environments are across the map
and how it helps us understand the different systems in our planet. I remember taking a geography
class in the past and my least favorite thing about it was learning about where everything is located on
the map, there’s just so many places! I believe the best techniques to learn by is reflection and opinion
assignments because they allow students to apply the material to their personal experiences and I
believe this allows for a better perspective. I believe the worst technique to learn by is quizzes
specifically timed quizzes because I feel the student can feel stressed and too worried about figuring
out the answer in the given time instead of being focused on the material. Some things I would like to
learn from this course are the solutions to balancing human dignity because although we all come from
different places and environments, we are all human. In order to succeed I would love constructive
feedback, communication, and positivity from my instructor. My favorite food is sushi, specifically
toro and I also really like mariscos such as aguachile. My favorite outdoor activity is snowboarding
and skating, I just love the thrill of it. My favorite place I have traveled to is Bilbao, Spain. I went to a
festival called BBK live on Mount Cobetas and was able to camp up there. It was so beautiful and it
was interesting to meet people from different parts of the world (nobody was from the US) at the
campsites. My favorite thing about college so far has been communicating with different students and
learning how we all come together on specific subjects even though we all have different career paths
we choose in life. I currently work in the marketing and broadcasting department for the Los Angeles
Dodgers which was my dream job and I do love it but now after a few years I’ve realized I want to do
something bigger in life such as something with Psychology. I am not sure exactly but I’m sure with
more classes in Psychology I will find what I am passionate about and one day have my next dream
job.
