The Negatives of Parental Pressure on Their Children's Succeed

Most parents in today's modern era expect their children to get better success in
the future. However, without realizing it, the expectations that are too big actually create
great pressure one for the child. The dangers of the pressure given by the parents
greatly affect the psychological and mentality of the child, which are:

1. Increasing levels of stress and depression: In fact, psychologically children who

receive great pressure and demands from their parents will feel stressed and end
up with depression. The form of stress that arises is usually the child will be
more aloof and behave away from his environment.

2. A higher rate of mental illness. When it comes to mental health, children who
feel like they are under constant stress can experience constant anxiety. This
high level of anxiety can also put children at greater risk of developing
depression or other mental health conditions to the point of mental disorder and
suicide.

3. Self-esteem problems. Encouraging children to excel can damage their self-

esteem. The constant pressure to appear disrupts children's identity formation
and causes them to feel they are not good enough—or even that they will never
be good enough. Many parents indirectly usurp their children's rights in
respecting and giving value to themselves.

Therefore, it can be clearly concluded that the effect of excessive emphasis on

children will not make the child what he wants, it will only give negative things in his life.
As a parent, you must pay attention to good parenting patterns, because with the right
parenting style, it will also help children in achieving future succeed.
