INSTALLATION PROCEDURES

1. It is the responsibility of the installer to verify that
newly installed equipment/systems do not interfere
with, or are susceptible to, the normal operation of
other equipment installed in the helicopter. Refer to
General Information Letter (IL) GEN-07-113 for
additional information.
2. All openings and ports in components, hoses,
and/or tubes disconnected or removed to facilitate the
modification must be capped, plugged, or otherwise
sealed to prevent contamination during the
modification.
3. Tag all parts, including attaching hardware
(unless otherwise noted) removed to gain access to
work area. Protect parts from damage until reinstalled.
4. Retain all parts and attaching hardware for
reassembly, unless otherwise noted.
10. Refer to the BHT-ELEC-SPM for the electrical
installation procedures.
11. It is recommended that an experienced electrical/
avionics person performs all steps pertaining to
connector disassembly/reassembly. If not specified in
these installation procedures, refer to the
BHT-ELEC-SPM for electrical wiring practices.
12. Perform a continuity check on all wiring newly
installed or disturbed during this modification.
13. Unless otherwise noted, all hose and wire bundle
clamps should be installed to provide optimum
clearance with structure, component, flight controls,
and other hoses and wire bundles.

1. Cut and remove the lockwire from the screws (1
and 4, Figure 1-1).
2. Remove the screws (1, 3, and 4) and the washers
(2 and 5) from the air inlet cowl assembly (6).
3. Put the deflector assembly (7) in position on the
air inlet cowl assembly (6) and align all holes.
4. Verify if the deflector assembly (7) interferes with
the access door. Trim the deflector assembly as
required.
5. Attach the upper tab of the deflector assembly (7)
to the air inlet cowl assembly (6) with the screws (13)
and the washers (11).
6. Attach the forward tab of the deflector assembly
(7) to the air inlet cowl assembly (6) with the screws
(10) and the washers (11).
7. Attach the lower tab of the deflector assembly (7)
to the air inlet cowl assembly (6) with the screws (12)
and the washers (11).
8. Tighten the screws (10, 12, and 13).
9. Safety the screws (12) with lockwire (C-405).
10. Repeat step 1 through step 9 for the deflector
assembly (8) on the right side.
11. Install the cover assembly (9) into the snow
deflectors (7 and 8).

INSTALLATION
MATERIALS REQUIRED
Refer to BHT-ALL-SPM for specifications.

1. Cut and remove the lockwire from the bolts (1, 5,
and 6, Figure 1-2).
2. Remove the bolts (1, 5, and 6), screws (3), and
washers (2) from the air inlet cowl assembly (4).
3. Put the deflector assembly (7) in position on the
air inlet cowl assembly (4) and align all holes.
4. Verify if the deflector assembly (7) interferes with
the access door. Trim the deflector assembly as
required.
5. Attach the upper tab of the deflector assembly (7)
to the air inlet cowl assembly (4) with the screws (14)
and the washers (10).
6. Attach the forward tab of the deflector assembly
(7) to the air inlet cowl assembly (4) with the bolts (13)
and the washers (10).
7. Attach the lower tab of the deflector assembly (7)
to the air inlet cowl assembly (4) with the bolts (11 and
12) and the washers (10).
8. Tighten the screws (14).
9. Tighten the bolts (11, 12, and 13).
10. Safety the bolts (11 and 12) with lockwire
(C-405).
11. Repeat step 1 through step 10 for the deflector
assembly (8) on the right side.
12. Install the cover assembly (9) into the snow
deflectors (7 and 8).
1-5. RESTORATION
1. Connect the battery and/or external power and
close battery access door (BHT-407-MM-10,
Chapter 96).
2. Amend the weight and balance records in
accordance with Chapter 2.
3. Return helicopter to the flight configuration.
