    PURPOSE

    Building childhood resilience through health & literacy promotion, play, & multicultural
    awareness through the arts!

    PROJECT SUMMARY

    After gathering permission from the center director, and completing parental permission
    forms, College interns, who have completed training, will visit your classroom to offer
    emerging literacy, numeracy assessments for each child, plus storytime and song circle
    time, and work with parents to complete the Ages & Stages Questionnaire.

    RATIONALE

    The purpose of the project is to support the trajectory of cognitive development and
    problem-solving skills, to increase math and reading ability, and art and play
    opportunities. Many children do not have books, toys, or music supports at home, and
    the project (through grants and donations) encourages music and literacy promotion
    with the supply of learning materials and toys for preschoolers and their families. We
    accept donations of up to $250 for a classroom of at least 20 students.
