SUBMITTED TO: DR. Ayaz Ayub

INTRODUCTION:
this Organization is established by Dr. Awais that aims to provide general deantal health and
awareness to people residing in rural areas of shangla Division through mobile dental vans. In
such areas the dental health services are really distant and the people don’t get the required
dental services.also the people are not aware of dental problem. To help the people of that
community, it is needed that they should be educated regarding dental health and basic dental
health treatment should be provided to them. The aim is to educate the people of community
about prevention and control of dental health problems and to provide them mobile dental
services to improve oral health and quality of life.

OBJECTIVES:

 To aware people about different causes of dental problems and their attitude about its
prevention by proper dental surgeons.
 To aware the major causes, diagnosis, indications, and basic principles of treatment of
dental health issues.
 To bring awareness in the people about the dental caries and its risk factors
 To educate people about importance of timely referral for treatment of dental problems
 To reach out the people where the dental services are very distant and provide people of
the area with basic dental health services.
 To extend availability of care for underserved residents of rural community.

SCOPE OF WORK:

Access to dental treatment, preventative dental healthcare, and services for the screening and
management of chronic diseases will all be provided through the mobile dentistry services. The
specific services that will be provided by the mobile dentistry program will include dental
exams, dental education, and general dental treatments. In addition, the program will include
general dental emergency treatments such as therapy for acute pulpitis or acute oral pain. Oral
surgery and orthodontic treatment are two therapies that are not often offered by mobile
programs. Also, mobile programs do not typically treat children.

A dental working area, X-ray equipment, a sterilizing system, and a computer for processing
claims, updating health history, and booking appointments may be included in a mobile dentistry
van. It is also possible for mobile dentistry programs to move dental equipment to Head Start
facilities, colleges, and nursing institutions so that clinicians may give treatment at such
locations.

BACKGROUND:
The disparity in access to oral healthcare between urban and rural areas is still a problem
throughout the nation. It has been noticed that people living in rural locations have significant
challenges when it comes to the accessibility, availability, and price of routine oral healthcare. A
paucity of dental staff, low population density and geographic remoteness, a lack of power and
supply of water, limited economic means, and an aging rural population are some of the factors
that contribute to these challenges. Most of the time, rural places have a very low population
density. Because of the relatively small population and geographical isolation, there are not
many medical facilities in rural areas, and even those that do exist may not be located in close
proximity to the majority of the residents. As a result, routine oral health services are out of
reach for these individuals. Even in the event that these inhabitants are willing to go to the
closest dental clinic, they may not be able to do so since public transit systems in rural regions
are sometimes restricted or even non-existent, and the road conditions may not be ideal for
traveling long distances. For these factors, rural residents, especially those with low incomes,
face difficulties traveling to seek oral health coverage from the nearest clinic or medical clinic,
which may be situated quite a distance away in the city. This is especially true for those who live
in areas that are economically depressed. In more remote parts of the country, the water and
power supplies may often be unreliable or inadequate. Because of this, it may be impossible to
establish a fixed site dental clinic in rural areas, which would limit the treatment options that are
available as well as the dental conditions that can be properly addressed. For example, powered
dental equipment and radiography units are two examples of this type of equipment.
Rural communities often have less financial resources available. They have a lower average
income than those who live in metropolitan regions, and maintaining their oral health may not be
as much of a concern for them as it is for people who live in cities. As a result, individuals may
not be able to purchase standard methods of oral healthcare, nor might they have the motivation
to do so.
Keeping all these above points in view, mobile dental services are needed in shangla district, so
that dental health services can be provided to the residents of shangla district.

In 2005, the Institute of Public Health and Social Sciences was established to improve the
capacity of health personnel in the public and private health sectors, based on an innovative
development effort by the government of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ministry of Health. With the
aim to Provide training, education through graduate courses, and disseminate research culture
among potential decision makers so that they can make policies based on information.

The Institute of Public Health and Social Sciences is proud of its achievements in all fields and
has completed assigned tasks in accordance with the highest expectations of the government and

health in rural areas of the country as the core issue of our public health problem. However, this
issue has not yet received due recognition.

I am studying here at the institute of Public Health and Social Science Department and having an
experience of 2 years. I have experience of working in different fields related with Public Health.
