You are on page 1of 9

Sometimes your life won't turn out

how you plan it.

It turns out how you work for it,

how you wake up, and you chase

that dream every single morning.

It's what you give your time and your energy to

that takes you to the next level.

Nobody wants to hack into their habitual nature

and build new habits

that are going to give you the future

that you seek after.

Dream BIG

Start SMALL

You gotta dream big, start small, act now.

DREAM BIG

START SMALL

ACT NOW

Stop waiting for the temperature to change.

Stop waiting for your feelings

to be in check.

Stop waiting for everything to line up.

It's never gonna line up.

It's never gonna be perfect.

You just gotta jump.

You just have to jump.

If not now, then when?

There are no shortcut.

Getting better isn't a hack or a trick

or a one change that you need to make.

Getting better is a campaign.

It's a campaign of discipline.

It's a campaign of hard work and dedication.

Watch what's happening.

Don't be casual now

about gathering information and can be useful to your life.

Casualness leads to casualties.

Whether it's on the highway,

the freeway,

or whether it's in life.

I want you to have that same procedure.

Gather knowledge.

Don't be lazy in learning.

It's too important to your future.

Don't be lazy in gathering information.

I'm telling you.

Never cease your quest for knowledge.

Never cease your quest for learning,

because the next idea may multiply the value of your life

by two, by three, by five, by ten.

But you've got to choose.

You've got to decide.

You've got to believe that you can do it.

But once you believe that you can see things

in any way that you need to to reach your goals,

your life will change forever

because you'll actually reach your goals.

So I say that your life is worth finding

what it is that you're supposed to do?

And I'm not saying quit your job.

I'm saying find it

and do just a little bit of it.

When I wanted to become involved in speaking,

I started just learning quotes,

listening to other people's tapes, going to seminars,

going to workshops, asking other people to helps me.

Just start working at it just a little bit,

but do find out what your work is

and hold onto it, and don't let your dream go.

Don't let it go.

Unless you've made some major mistakes in life,

you haven't start living yet.

Come on man.

Get yourself together.

You can handle this.

You just haven't figured it out yet.

It's all right.

This is your training period.

This is a tuition you have to pay

for what you don't know.

Start saying, "I can do this."

"I can make this happen."

Stay focus and execute.

Success is a marathon of consistency.

Walked out one day at a time,

allocate every second, every minute

of your day to your dream.

If you actually want something,

you can have it.

Now, the question then would be,

what do you mean by actually want?

And the answer is that you reorient your life

in every possible way

to make the probability that will occur

as certain as possible.

If you're willing to burn your bridges behind you

and say, once and for all,

This is it.

This is what I will do and I will never retreat,

I'll never go back.

Then you have the sort of desire

that can only end in success.

Now for the process of change,

just the philosophical pronouncement won't do

it takes more than that,

and it takes more than enthusiasm.

I know we are hearing a lot about enthusiasm these days.

We're still hearing the old cliche of the thirties

To be enthusiastic.

You must act enthusiastic.

But see, that won't help.

I'm sorry.

Hey, after you have leaped about,

there are some things you've got

to do or it isn't going to change for you

You can get all excited about lifting 200 pounds until you
get to the gym.

Then you need a new excitement.

And the new excitement is discipline.

Discipline.
The major step to human progress.

If there is one thing to get excited about, this is it.

Get excited about your ability to make yourself do the

necessary

things to get a desired result.

That's true excitement

Not just optimistic panic

true excitement.

Hey, what could you do starting today that

would make a big difference in your life?

Answer no telling.

What will some people do starting today?

That's what's disappointing.

It's not what we can do that's in question.

What we can do is fantastic.

What we can do is unbelievable

what we can do.

It's what we settle for That's disappointing

Remember, the major question to ask on the job is not, what

are you getting?

The major question to ask is, what are you becoming?

What we become is what leads to all the good things

and the habits we form,

habits of mind, attitude and behavior

are a dominant part of what we are becoming.

Now, I understand as well as anyone that forming new habits

doesn't come easy

But new habits will come when we change.

It is usually not in one cataclysmic explosion,

but rather by changing

small pieces and parts at a time.

I think that's how most of us change.

We just keep nudging ourselves in the
right direction, forming one or two

new habits at a time, little by little

until finally we've made the turn

and this is where the good life comes from

Those personal changes,

there's nothing you can do with the seasons,

but there's everything you can do with yourself.

Don't wish for the winters to change.

Wish for your own attitudes, strength and capabilities to

change

in order to handle the winters.

Really making personal changes.

Calls for 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration.

Wishing we could change as a beginning

But now wish must be translated

into activity and inspiration

An affirmation must lead to discipline.

We can affirm that we are going to change, but we must now

form new habits

and develop new disciplines for the affirmation to come

true.

Make sure your activities are not going in

the opposite direction of your affirmation.

Make sure your daily thoughts

and activities take you in the

direction of your affirmation.

Do the right thing.

In the development of character that is based on

self-discipline and willpower,

long term thinking is essential.

The more you think about the long

term consequences of your behavior,

the more likely it is that you will

do the right thing in the short term.

So when you have to make a choice or a

decision, always ask the magic question.

What's important here?

Practice the universal maximum of Immanuel Kant - The

philosopher

he said

Resolve to behave as though

your every act were to become

a universal law for all people.

One of the great questions for the development of character

is this.

What kind of a world would this world

be if everyone in it was just like me?

Whenever you slip, whenever you

do, or say something that is

inconsistent with your highest values,

immediately get back on your horse.

Say to yourself, this is not like me

And resolve that next time you'll do better.

What you dwell upon grows.

If you are in a situation today in which you

are not living up to your highest values,

make a decision this very minute to confront

the situation and straighten it out.

The minute you do, you'll once again

feel happy and back in control.

There's an old Indian story on my shoulders are two wolves

One is a black wolf evil who continually

tempts me to do and say the wrong things.

On my other shoulder is a white

wolf that continually encourages

me to live up to my very best.

A listener asked the old man, which of these

wolves has the greatest power over you?

The old man replied, the one I feed

by the law of concentration.

Whatever you dwell upon, grows

and increases in your life.

When you think and talk about the

virtues and values that you most admire

and respect y

you therefore program those values deeper and deeper into

your subconscious until they begin to

operate automatically in every situation.

Whenever you exercise your self-discipline

and willpower to live your life consistently

with those values that you most aspire to be

known for, you begin to move rapidly along

the path to becoming an excellent person.

Now here are some action exercises for you.

Take out a sheet of paper and write

out your answers to these questions.

One,

name three people living or dead, who you most admire.

And describe one quality of each of them that you respect.

Two, determine the most important

virtue or quality in your life that

you strive the most to practice or emulate

Three, identify those situations in

which you feel the most confident

in which you feel like the very

best person you could possibly be.

Four.

What situations give you your greatest

feelings of self-esteem and personal worth?

Five.

If you are already an excellent

person in every respect,

how would you behave differently from today on work?

Six.
What one quality would you like people to
think of when your name is mentioned and

what could you do to ensure this happens?

Seven

in what one area do you need to be more truthful

and practice higher levels of integrity than you do today?

Whatever your answers, write them

down and then begin to practice them.
