1 CORINTHIANS 13

Lines 1 to 8
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong
or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all
knowledge, and if I have faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give
all the posses to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain
nothing.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is
not self-seeking, it is not easily angered,it keeps no records of wrongs. Love does not delight in
evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always
preserves.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they
will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

Lines 18 to 24
The Lord God said, "It is not god for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him."
Now the Lord God had formed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of the
air. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whatever the man called
each living creature, that was its name. So the man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of
the air and all the beasts of the field.
But for Adam no suitable helper was found. So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep
sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man's ribs and closed up the place with
flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he
brought her to the man.
The man said, "This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called
'woman,' for she was taken out of man."
For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will
become one flesh.

Lines 15 to 18
"Look," said Naomi, "your sister-in-law is going back to her people and her gods. Go back with
her."
But Ruth replied, "Don't Urge me to leave you or turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and
where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die
I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if anything
but death separates you and me." When Naomi realized that Ruth was determined to go with
her, she stopped urging her.
