Select Uninteresting Page Recommendations

Task Overview
In this task, a source/viewed webpage and an abstract of a recommended webpage regarding it are
given. You are required to determine, if the second web page is interesting or not, judging by it abstract.

To help complete this task, please use  Chrome browser, and install  UHRS Chrome Extension.
It will help display some pages in the HitApp properly.
If you see a blank screen please open the page in a new tab by clicking the url. If it does not open in the
new tab either, choose 'Can't judge'.

Judgement Values
Uninteresting
Features of an uninteresting recommendation:

1. The url of the recommendation could not be opened or is redirected.

2. The webpage of the recommendation is a functional page, which refers to the page that only has
web links, images, or limited information and don’t have rich articles written by editors, writers,
or bloggers. Functional pages are, but not limited to: 'login' page, 'thank you' page, 'payment'
page, 'download' page (Example 1,2,3,4,5)
3. Known answer. Users viewing the source webpage already have the knowledge or know the
answers in the recommended webpage. (Example 6)
4. Links from Same Domain. The link of the recommended page can be found from the viewing
page. (Example 7,8)
5. Outdated. The content of the recommended page is outdated. (Example 9)
6. The recommended page is useless, even though it related to the source webpage. (Example 10)
7. No new information. The content of the source and the recommended page are too
similiar/same.

Interesting
Features of an interesting recommendation:

1. The recommended webpage should have rich text written by editors, writers, or bloggers.
2. The content of the recommendation encourage the user to explore more.

Can’t judge

Some hits may be impossible to judge in the following situations.

1. The source page contains inappropriate/illegal content, like drugs, piracy, pornographic, adult
content, malware, malicious content …
2. The source page could not be viewed, even after opening it in a new tab or incognito window.
 3. You can’t understand the content of the source page. For example, the page is in a foreign
language, or spam or excessive advertisements make it so you cannot access the content.
