a. Obtain the expression for current, when voltage v = Vm, sin𝜔𝑡 is applied across purely [4]

single phases 230 V, 50 Hz supply. Calculate the

a. Explain the concept of balanced & unbalanced load in three phase supply [3]
b. The power consumed by 3-ph star connected load is 12000 W at pf = 0.8 lag, when [6]

OR A 80kVA, 1000/250 V, 1-ph 50 Hz transformer has iron loss of 800 W and full load
copper loss 1200 W. Find [i] efficiency at full load and power factor = 0.8 lag. [ii]
efficiency at half load and power factor = 1 lag.
OR A single phase 50 Hz transformer has 300 primary turns and 750 secondary turns. The
net cross-sectional area of the core is 64 cm2. If the primary induced emf is 400 V, find
c. A delta-connected load draws a line current of 15 ampere at a lagging power factor of 0.85 [8]
from a 400 V. 50 Hz, 3-phase supply. Find the resistance and inductance of each phase. If
