CASE STUDY
A company in the automotive sector that is dedicated to the operation of passenger transport
vehicles and automotive repair (maintenance of the cars) normally works from Monday to Friday
the administrative part and the operation of vehicles per worker is from 8 hours to a maximum of
12 hours a day, divided into two continuous work blocks of 4 or 5 hours driving a motor vehicle.
When the bus operator gets on to work, he can sit for more than 3 to 4 hours at a time without the
possibility of changing the bus for another. The work requirement required to develop their
function is mainly due to driving skills that involve handling mirrors, motor coordination
between the brake and the accelerator, mainly with the right foot, levels of attention and
concentration on where to leave the passengers. according to the route you take. The feeding
schedules are varied; They have lunch and breakfast at once between 9 and 11 a.m.
According to the SST area in charge, musculoskeletal problems are evident in the lumbar area
mainly due to posture and they remain seated for long periods of time. The statistics indicate the
following: For every 10 workers, 3 are absent due to musculoskeletal problems at least 2 times a
month. The rate of TA for efforts is 0.2%. The incidence of cases is 1.5% with an increase of
0.5% during the last year. Surveillance systems indicate that musculoskeletal problems occur in
the lower back and shoulders. COPASST inspects 32 buses out of 170 of the total fleet and finds
that the seats have padding problems, lack of lubrication (poor damping system).

 DESCRIPTION OF THE WORKING SYSTEM

 made for male function> 170 buses

 defined hours to be executed> passenger transportation and
machine automotive repair
 education and training> not only the knowledge of the worker
but also his ability to drive
 test to know the degree of cushioned capacity and damping
deficiency

work  capacity
man  knowledge
system  ability
 experience

 environmental quality
 work stress
environment  extra hours
 job security
 intrapersonal relationships
Problem

1. Feeding schedules are being altered, not meeting consistent schedules, work
saturation, not respecting rest hours.
2. musculoskeletal disorders, lumbar area for every 10 workers 3 have been ill at
least 1 time per month.
3. the a.t for effort are 0.2 and with an increase of 0.5% during the last year.
4. the study of the seats for the buses of 170 buses that have 32 in the fleet have
cushioning problems and lack of lubrication.

case development

 The man, machine, environment system makes up the human factor, the organizational
factors (structure) and the temporary factors that are the work space
 They are important since the male system provides knowledge, skills, abilities to carry
out an optimal work activity
 The machine system participates with its operation and good management in accordance
with the knowledge of the human being and the surrounding system are the physical
arrangements that are carried out in the space best in its work in an environment without
smoke or suspended particular
 the human being in turn needs spaces for family, social and work development and
depending on how they develop
 the worker will respond in his work performance then these 3 elements must never be
separated so that thus there is success

improvement proposal

 Implement a fair schedule and peal of the hours of the workers' meals, since this wants
stress disorder and later eating disorders.
 Make an evaluative diagnosis of the risk factors that are conditioned to the occurrence of
ostermuscular alterations
 Determine, based on work accidents due to effort, which has been the most frequent
routine activity that causes the percentage of them to increase and that in turn generate
habits to reduce or eradicate this incidence.
 Monitor and control the state of the bus seats, their physical condition and their
lubrication
Conclusions
What we draw as conclusions is that the working system is a method that the 3 elements
complement each other and they will not be able to work individually.
In the case study we see several problems that the company has that are very evident to see and
that generate illnesses for the workers in the medium or long term, that is why it is important to
implement strategies that reduce this problem and that do not generate more problems for the
worker in the your human body.
