Welcome to the step-by-step setup instructions for Night Hunter Pro Expert Advisor. In this
guide you’ll find a few different sections:

1. In the first section you will find a general description of Night Hunter Pro: on what trading
logic this EA is built upon, supported currency pairs, recommended time frame, features, a
back-testing video, a profit calculator, and the verified MyFxBook / MQL live signal, as well
as a few reviews users, that you might find useful

2. In the second section you will find the set-up instructions, where I will walk you through

Brokers selection

Broker selection is essential when it comes to night scalping. It is usually better to go with the
most popular brokers that provide better trading conditions. But how can you know which ones
provide the best?

There is a service that can help with that question. These are the best current options:

The best brokerage options according to trading conditions (in order) are:

1. IC Markets (1st option, best conditions not only at night, but overall)
2. FIBO Group (very good trading conditions at night)
3. TickMill (good, but a bit worse than the previous two)
4. RannForex (small offshore broker, sometimes with the best trading conditions)
5. XM (very good trading conditions at night)
6. Pepperstone (good option for big lot sizes)
7. MT.COOK (small, but capable broker for professionals)
8. ThinkMarkets
9. AxiTrader
10. Oanda (best available option for US citizens)

Please, do not try to use the EA on brokers with bad conditions during the rollover! Although you
will most probably get profit in the long run, your results will be much worse than users of the
brokers listed above

VPS (Virtual Private Server)

A VPS (Virtual Private Server) is a virtual machine sold as a service by an Internet hosting
service. I strongly recommend you to install EAs on a VPS to ensure they will be able to run
continuously without interruptions, or needing to have your PC switched on all day long

So, which VPS server should you choose?

Free Windows-VPS from Amazon or Google is suitable only for one terminal on which the EA is
running

Free VPS servers are not suitable for the operation of several terminals or for the full-fledged
work of EA, since they are severely limited in computing power and/or the amount of RAM

VPS (Virtual Private Server)

MQL5-VPS has two advantages:

1. Low latency between VPS and trade server

2. You do not need to spend activation to run EA on MQL5-VPS

But MQL5-VPS has significant drawbacks:

1. Very expensive. $ 15 per month for 1 account, while on one Windows-VPS you can run 10-20
MT4 / MT5 terminals at the same time
2. Inconvenient. You cannot visually observe what is happening in the trading terminal. You can
only read the logs. Very often this is not enough to quickly sort out problems that arise

Paid Windows-VPS is the best solution. For 95% of all possible tasks VPS server with 2-4 cores,
4-8 gb RAM and an SSD disk will be enough. On such a VPS, you can easily run 5-10 MT4/MT5
terminals

It is very important that your Windows VPS is close to your broker trading server. This minimizes
the delay in trading

Brokers selection

Once you’ve made your research and decided which broker (or brokers) you will be using for
trading, you should then download their MetaTrader 4 or MetaTrader 5 platform, depending on
what you prefer

In this example, I will be using MetaTrader 4 platform offered by IC Markets broker. To download
it, I just went into the IC Markets website, created an account and downloaded/installed the MT4
on my pc

MetaTrader 4 vs MetaTrader 5

It doesn't matter much whether you use MetaTrader 4 (MT4) or MetaTrader 5 (MT5), as the
trading algorithm behind the EAs is the same. All my expert advisors are available for both
platforms

There are internal differences between platforms, but it's my work as the developer that you do
not notice these

Also, there are sometimes different quotes in MT4 and MT5, but these differences are usually
small and random

Most people prefer MT4, as more brokers support it. MT5 has a better tester, which I recommend
to use. Please feel free to test for yourself both platforms and decide which one to use

Set-up video

Once you’ve decided between MetaTrader 4 and 5, proceed to install Night Hunter Pro

Here is a step-by-step video to help you with that

Allowing web requests

The first step is to allow web requests. Here you will input certain URLs the expert advisor will be
making requests in order to work correctly

In order to allow them, follow these steps:

1. On your MetaTrader platform, head to the menu on the header, place your mouse over the
‘Tools’ menu and left-click
2. Head down to the ‘Options’ menu and left-click (you can simply press Ctrl+O and the same
menu will open)

3. Head over to the ‘Expert Advisors’ tab on the top menu, and left click
4. Check the ‘Allow WebRequest for listed URL’ box
5. Add the following URLS by clicking on the green ‘+’ symbol and copy-pasting one by one :

http://timesrv.online
http://valeryservice.com
5. Left click on the ‘OK’ button

Once again, make sure that this option is enabled, as without it, the expert advisor will not be
able to work

Enabling automated trading

Once you’ve installed your preferred broker MetaTrader 4 or 5 platform on your PC and opened an
account, it’s time to get Night Hunter Pro ready

Your first step will be to enable auto trading on your MetaTrader platform:

To do so, follow the next steps:

1. On your MetaTrader platform, head to the menu on the header place your mouse over the
‘Tools’ menu and left-click
2. Head down to the ‘Options’ menu and left-click (you can simply press Ctrl+O and the same
menu will open)

3. Head over to the ‘Expert Advisors’ tab on the top menu, and left click.
4. Check the ‘Allow automated trading’ box
5. Left click on the ‘OK’ button

And that 's it!

Make sure that this option is enabled, as without it, the Expert Advisor will not be able to places
trades automatically on your account

Installing Night Hunter Pro

It’s time now to install Night Hunter Pro on your MetaTrader terminal

Your Expert Advisors are visible on the navigator on the left-hand

side of the MT terminal. In case you do not see it on your screen,
open it by pressing CTRL+N

Once you’ve located your navigator, follow these steps:

1. Press F4 to open the MetaEditor
2. Locate the ‘Experts’ folder on the left hand side of the MetaEditor window
3. Right click on the ‘Experts’ folder and click on ‘Open folder’

Once you click on ‘Open folder’ a folder containing all of your terminal’s Expert Advisor files will
open

What you need to do now is simply drag or copy & paste the .ex4 or .ex5 Night Hunter Pro file
(depending if you’re using MetaTrader 4 or MetaTrader 5 platform) to this folder, and close it

Once drag or paste the EA file into your Experts folder, head back again to your MetaTrader
terminal and follow these steps:

1. Go to your navigator and place your mouse above the Expert Advisors menu
2. Right click on the Expert Advisors menu
3. Click on ‘Refresh’
4. Night Hunter Pro will now appear below the Expert Advisors menu

Opening a chart

The next step is to open a market chart where you will later load the EA in order to trade. To do so
head over to the icons menu on the top of your MetaTrader terminal and click on the ‘Open a new
chart’ one:

A list of the major/minor FX currency pairs will be displayed now.

Night Hunter Pro supports GBPUSD, EURUSD, EURCHF, USDCAD,
USDCHF + CHFJPY, AUDCAD, EURCAD, EURAUD, EURGBP,
EURJPY, AUDJPY. For this example, I will open a EURUSD chart

The next step will be to define a timeframe for this chart. To do

so, head over to the menu above the chart and choose your
desired timeframe, which range from M1 (one minute) to MN
(monthly, and select the one you want to work with

Night Hunter Pro’s recommended timeframe is M5 so, I will be

setting it up on M5 (five minutes)

Loading Night Hunter Pro into the chart

Once your chart is set up, you’re now

ready to load Night Hunter Pro into it

Doing it is really simple: just click on the

EA name on the ‘Experts’ menu inside
the navigator, and drag it to the chart

Once you drop the EA on the chart, a window with the following tabs will pop on your screen:
1. About
2. Common
3. Inputs (explained on the next page)

Configuration of parameters

If you head to the ‘Inputs’ tab, you will see all the configurable parameters

Loaded values are the default ones for the strategy. You can either use Night Hunter Pro with
these parameters, or modify them to best fit your specific needs

You’ll find a comprehensive list the EA parameters and options of use inside the strategy section,
later in this guide

Automated trading

Whether you decide to go with the preloaded parameters or modify them, you will need to click
on the ‘OK’ button and then everything will be ready for your EA to start trading automatically on
your account, which looks something like this:

To verify that everything is set up correctly in case of MT 4, you can check if there is a smiley or a
sad face next to the EA name on the top hand-right side of your chart. A smiley face means
everything is ok, and a sad face means there is some configuration error

Trial license activation video

In case you want to get Night Hunter Pro’s free trial, you need to make the request for your 14 days
license, through your website user dashboard

Your first step is to access your user dashboard sign-up page by clicking here and creating an
account. Use the same email address you used when checking out, as the system will use it to
verify your purchase

After you’ve created your account, log in to it by clicking here

Once inside, you will find the dashboard with a navigation menu to the left, which looks like this:

To activate your Night Hunter Pro licenses, head over to the ‘Licenses’ tab, choose within
MetaTrader 4 or 5, head to the white rectangle with the ‘Night Hunter Pro’ title and icon, and either
click on the ‘Start trial’ yellow button

Next, enter your MetaTrader account number and click on the ‘Start Trial’ green button

Once you do that, Night Hunter Pro will ‘unblock’, displaying to you an image of the EA, as well as a
‘TRIAL: 14 Days Left’ label. That means your trial license is now active and available for 14 days

Once your trial license is active on your dashboard, wait for a few minutes, and reload your Night
Hunter Pro EA in a trading chart (close the chart, open a new one and drag the EA there)

The “License error!” message should now be transformed into a “Live trading” one. This means
you are all set, and Night Hunter Pro will start placing trades for you on your account

If the license error message is not replaced by the live trading one, please make sure you have
enabled the webserver URLs, which can be found here

In 95% of the cases, that is what is causing the issue, so make sure you verify that before anything. If
you’ve checked it and it is still not working, contact me at valery@valerytrading.com and I will help
you out!

Trial license activation

Once you’ve started your trial, you will receive a confirmation email from me.

Your trial lasts 14 days, so you will be receiving one email per day, containing valuable information on
how to get the best out of Night Hunter Pro, so please make sure you read them.

If you don’t see a message, please, check your spam folder. It can sometimes end up there,
depending on your spam filter settings

On the last day, I will send you a special surprise.

Inputs

Once you load NHP on your chart, pop-up box will appear showing settings of your EA. Make
sure that all the settings and alerts are correct before clicking OK. A full list of settings is
located in the next paragraph

If your broker uses a suffix (e.g. EURUSD.a) you should update names in the Symbols separated
by comma parameter

● Allow Opening a new Trade - enable/disable opening of new trades. You can disable it
while having opened trades to have the EA close trades that are opened, but stop opening
new ones after that

● Lot-sizing Method - select the lot sizing method according to the risk you want to take:
Fixed Lots will use fixed lot size from the 'Fixed lot' parameter, Dynamic Lots will use
'Dynamic Lot' parameter, Max Risk per Trade will calculate lots based on % risk per trade,
and 3 predefined presets will calculate risk automatically for you. When you choose one
method you will only use the parameters that refer to it. For example, if you have chosen
Dynamic Lots option you should use the 'Dynamic Lot' parameter below. Changing 'Fixed
Lot' and 'Max Risk per Trade' won't matter. Also when you choose one of the predefined
risk profiles all the three parameters below won't matter

● Fixed Lot - fixed trading lot. If you want to have all trades the same fixed lot size, select
"Fixed Lots" in the 'Lot-sizing Method' and set here the lot size you want

● Dynamic Lot - balance/equity to be used per 0.01 lot. If you want to have for example 0.01
lot size per 100 of your deposit select "Dynamic Lots" in the 'Lot-sizing Method' and set
100 in the 'Dynamic Lot' parameter

● Max Risk per Trade - will calculate the lot size, so that risk per trade stays within specified
limit. E.g. setting this parameter to 5 will have all trades lose 5% of the deposit in case of
hitting SL

● Maximum Lot - maximum allowed trading lot. The EA won't open trades higher than this
lot

● Maximum Spread, in pips - maximal allowed spread for position closing. Works rarely, as
most of the trades are closed using TP

● Maximum Slippage for a non-ECN acc, in pips - max allowed slippage

● Max Spread for Pending Orders - if the current spread exceeds the specified value, the EA
will not place new pending orders and will cancel already placed ones. This feature can be
used to prevent EA from trading if spreads go through the roof, but based on my results
there's little sense in using it for anything else

● Maximum Symbols at a time - max allowed number of symbols that can be opened at the
same time

● Allow to Buy/Sell - enable/disable Buy/Sell trades

● Maximum Drawdown Percent - if current floating drawdown exceeds the specified % the
EA will close open positions

● Max Floating Drawdown in Money - if the floating drawdown in money exceeds the
specified value, the EA will perform actions specified in the 'Max Drawdown Action'
parameter. This option can be used, for example, to prevent losses higher than specified
by your prop trading firm

● Max Drawdown Action - allows specifying actions to be taken after the max. drawdown is
reached (in money or %):
○ 'Close trades & stop trading for 24h' - the EA will close all open trades and will not
open new ones for 24 hours;
○ 'Close trades & stop trading until restart' - the EA will close all open trades and will
not open new ones until the EA/MT restarts;
○ 'Prohibit opening new trades' - new trades will be prohibited as long as the floating
drawdown is above a specified value;
○ 'Prohibit opening new trades until restart' - new trades will be prohibited until the
EA/MT restarts

● Max Drawdown Calculation - allows to specify how the maximum drawdown is calculated:
○ 'The account' - takes into account all positions opened on the account, including
trades opened manually or by other EAs;
○ 'This strategy' - takes into account only positions opened by this set file of the EA

● Maximum Net Number of Currencies - allows to limit the number of open trades with the
same currencies (not symbols/currency pairs) in the same direction. The parameter does
not lead to performance improvements on tests, still, it limits risks, so it is recommended
to be used with a value of 2 when more than 3 pairs are traded at a time. This parameter
limits the exposure to risk in a smart way (not just by limiting the number of pairs traded)

For example, we set 'Maximum Net Number of Currencies'=2 and got 3 position open:

● long EURUSD
● long GBPUSD
● short EURCHF
● Net number of open positions with the same currencies:
● EUR = 0 (long EURUSD + short EURCHF)
● USD = -2 (long EURUSD + long GBPUSD)
● GBP = 1 (long GBPUSD)
● CHF = 1 (short EURCHF)

As you can see, USD has reached the max. limit (-2), so any orders that can lead to a new
short USD trade (for example, short USDCHF) will be canceled and prohibited

● Medium Impact News - enable/disable news events with medium impact (2 stars news)

● Low Impact News - enable/disable news events with low impact (1 star news)

● Speaks - if false, then the EA will not take into account news events marked as
Speeches/Speaks

● News List Refresh Rate - news events list update frequency (selection from the
drop-down list)

● Symbol Suffix - here you can specify a symbol suffix if your broker uses one

● Placing Orders During Rollover Time - enable/disable placing pending orders during
rollover time

● Friday Half Lots - halving trading lots on Friday evening

● Handle Max Drawdown Events on Every Tick - enable/disable drawdown event handling
on every tick (instead of once a minute that is used by default, it may consume more CPU
resources)

● Max Daily Drawdown Limit % FTMO Rules in Money [0-disabled] - maximum daily
drawdown limit in MONEY, calculated according to the FTMO rules. Non-trading
operations (like withdrawals) during the day are not taken into account

● Max Daily Drawdown Reset Hour FTMO Rules (Broker time) - hour to reset the max.
drawdown with the prop firm

● Min Profit To Close Trade Before Midnight, in pips [0-disabled] - automatically closes
profitable trades before midnight if the specified profit is reached

● Hide TakeProfit - on/off TakeProfit hiding

● Max Open Lots - here you can put a value limiting the total lots that can be opened by the
EA on all currency pairs

● Minutes to Stop Trading - minutes to stop trading

● Block Trading for the Entire Day - prohibits opening new trades throughout the day if HV
hits the specified level just once at any moment during the day

● Show Stats - show a panel with some statistics

Risk management

When it comes to selecting a risk level which is appropriate for you personally I recommend
using the table below. You can find it also on this Telegram channel post

Select the risk level with which you get a maximum historical drawdown, which is 1.5 times
smaller than what you can handle. That should give you a good estimate of what your ideal risk
level is

Strategy

● Symbols separated by comma - list of pairs to trade. Suffix needs to be included if your
broker uses one! Supported pairs: GBPUSD, EURUSD, EURCHF, USDCAD, USDCHF +
CHFJPY, AUDCAD, EURCAD, EURAUD. First 3 ones are the preferred option (like on Best
Pairs and MT 5 Extreme signals)

● Hour to Start/Stop Placing Orders - when to start/stop placing pending orders. Set Smart
Time Filter to false if you want to optimize these parameters

● Smart Time Filter - enable/disable smart time filter, it is preferred to enable this
parameter, unless using custom set files with optimized timing parameters

● Hour to Stop Trading (on Friday) - hour to stop trading (on Friday). All open positions will
be closed at this hour. Set it to 22 if you do not want trades to be held over weekends

use this filter to prevent low-liquidity market tricks during these holidays

● StopLoss, in pips - stop loss value in standard 4 digit pips. By default are used different
optimal SL values for different pairs

● Hide StopLoss - enable/disable SL hiding. You may use this option to hide your real SL
from the broker

● Swap Filter - cancels trading on Wednesday evening in the direction of the negative swap
or cancels trading on every day when swap is exceeded (parameter is adjustable). It is
preferred to be used with the default value. Can be disabled on swap-free accounts

● Max Negative Swap, in pips - max negative swap

● News Filter Enabled - enable/disable News Filter (must be allowed access to the URL
http://ec.forexprostools.com in order to use this filter)

● Wait Minutes Before/After Event - suspend trading before/after the news (default values
are preferred)

● Split Orders - embedded feature allowing to split the entry on several slightly different
entries. With the default value feature is disabled, 10 is the maximum value (splitting the
lot size on 10 different entries)s. Preferred to use with large lot sizes to prevent slippages!

● Adjust Order Price? - if false, the EA will not use the price adjustment for 'Split Orders'
parameter and all orders will be placed at the same price

● Minimum Price Range - minimum distance between pending buy and sell orders
expressed in %ATR. The option can significantly improve performance (Profit Factor,
Expected Payoff), but reduces the number of trades. Recommended value - 0...20. The
value of 0 usually shows best results with EURUSD and GBPUSD pairs, while value of 20 is
recommended in case of trading other pairs or in case of having bad trading conditions
with the broker (higher values make EA less susceptible to bad trading conditions of the
broker)

● Randomize Order/TP/SL Levels - if enabled, the EA will randomly slightly change the
entry/TP/SL levels. This option allows you to have unique entry/TP/SL values

● Adjust TP Price - allows you to adjust take profit. In case of a positive/negative value, take
profit will be increased/decreased by the specified number of pips

● Minimum Free Margin % - if Free Margin% falls below the specified value, the EA will not
place new pending orders and will cancel already placed ones

● Trade Comment - comment

● UID (0...9) - unique EA instance number. Usually no need to change it, unless using
different set files on the same pair (might be needed for advanced users with their own
custom configurations). In this case you need to make sure that every set file uses unique
UID number

● ShowPanel - enable/disable Info-panel. It is better to enable the info-panel, as it will

show most of what can go wrong there. But it can be disabled to save VPS resources

● GMT/DST Test - GMT offset in winter and DST in Tester. This parameter has no effect on
live trading (unless 'Disable Automatic GMT Detection' is set to true)

● Disable Automatic GMT Detection - Set it to 'true' to disable automatic GMT detection.
You can use the 'GMT Test/Manual' and 'DST Test/Manual' parameters to manually set the
GMT offset in live trading

● News Filter can be used in the Strategy Tester. To apply the option you should download
the news events data file 'NewsEvents.txt' and copy it to the common MT4/5 directory -
'\Common\Files' (File -> Open Data Folder -> Up to ‘Terminal’ -> Common -> Files). The
data file can be found using the link above

What to do if your results differ from my signals

● Check the set file you use. I recommend trading only the 3 best pairs, it usually gets a bit
better overall results. Yes, any particular month can be better with a 9-12 pairs
combination, but I'm talking about the overall statistics here. Although trading 5 pairs is
also fine

● Check whether your broker is good enough for night scalping at all. Many brokers have
huge spreads and commissions + slippages, they will slowly get most of your scalping
profits to themselves through bad trading conditions during the night. If you are not sure
how to check it, please, write me in private messages or in the EA discussion

● Use rebate service of your liking that will pay you back part of the commission you paid to
the broker or a commission discount if that is applicable to your broker. If you need advice,
please, write me personally

● With IC Markets the use of AUD-nominated accounts will allow you to reduce the
commission you pay to the broker by 20-30%. You will lose a bit during the exchange
to/from AUD, so this is a solution for the long term. If you want to know whether this can
help you, write me in private messages

What to do if your results differ from my signals
● You should use the 'Split Orders' parameter in case of significant slippages on
entries/exits due to the use of big lot size. This parameter will split big lot sizes on several
slightly different entries to prevent slippage from occurring. Slippage dependence on the
lot size varies from broker to broker, usually it is much better to keep lot size of a single
entry not larger than 0.2-0.5 (2-5 lot size of the overall entry with the 'Split Orders' set to
10). If your order size is larger than 0.8-1 you will experience significant slippage with most
brokers. In this case you can lower risks or split the deposit across multiple
accounts/brokers

● If you have a significant deposit size, better split it between different brokers, as well as
between accounts of the same broker. You will diversify your trading a little bit this way
and you will have lower slippages due to smaller lot sizes. You can combine splitting the
entry and using several brokers/accounts to improve execution significantly for almost
any sensible amount of funds

● If your results are pretty much the same as mine, just wait for at least a month, and if this
month turns out to be a bad one - at least a quarter and you will see that the overall profit
is close to mine and close to the overall statistics. Please, do not watch it trading day by
day if you are not a professional trading with years of experience! The essential feature of
the normal human psyche (not a deformed one of a professional trader) is loss aversion.
To make it simple: you feel the pain of losing the money twice as much as the joy of
receiving it. So if you watch trading day by day it will mess with your head: even if you
have the overall profit, you will have a feeling that it all goes to hell

Tricks & tips you might need
● Using several brokers for diversification will help you to smooth out the overall result. BUT:
all these brokers need to have good trading conditions during the night. Write me
personally if you need specific advice on that

● Most of the parameters are already close to optimal values. It is preferred to use default
values for most parameters (except the 'Symbols separated by comma' and lot-sizing
related parameters)

● EURUSD, GBPUSD and EURCHF are the most liquid pairs with the least slippage, night
scalping usually works best on these pairs. Additional diversification across multiple pairs
might help a bit in case of small lot sizes or might not help you at all (especially with
significant lot sizes). Based on the Occam's razor it is better to trade only a few best pairs,
not trying to involve additional diversification for little gain

● The VPS choice hardly matters in case of Night Hunter Pro, as it uses pending orders.
Pending order is executed on the broker side, so it's essentially like having 0 ms latency all
the time, no matter what VPS you use. You might as well have 2000 ms latency with your
VPS, it won't matter and execution will always be on the broker side due to the use of
pending orders

● If you want to not have trades held over weekends, you need to set 'Hour to Stop Trading
(on Friday)' to 22. This way EA won't open new trades at Friday and won't have trades held
over weekends

Tricks & tips you might need

● If you want to use several instances of the EA on one account (for example, to use your
own optimised set files with different pairs, timing, SL levels, etc.) you need to have
unique UID number for every copy of the EA! Otherwise different instances of the EA will
conflict with one another. For example, first set file can have UID = 0, second one a have
UID = 1 and so on

● If you get "Failed to get MODE_MARGINREQUIRED" error and it's there multiple times it
means one of the following:

● You either got some of the symbols wrong (e.g. haven't added suffix)
● Or you haven't shown symbols you would like to trade in the Market Watch
● Or you listed symbols in the 'Symbols separated by comma' parameter using wrong
delimiter (for example, a dot or some other symbol instead of a comma)

● Some brokers might restrict having pending orders too close to the current price,
effectively restricting any scalping this way. Most brokers do not use such option, as it is
mostly used by small brokers working against its own clients, but you can check if your
broker has something like this (picture "Stops_Level" below)
