something works.
INFORMATIVE WRITING
It provides or increases the
knowledge of a concept, object,
person, or event/phenomenon.
 STEPS IN WRITING A DEFINITIONE SSAY
PREWRITING:
• Decide on your topic.
• Come up with your thesis statement. It is the sentence
that defines your topic/concept to be.

Example: Eponyms are words that originated from the names of

people and places and which are now commonly used in
everyday conversations.

• You should think of details that will support your thesis
statement and the topic you have chosen.
• You should have the introduction, a body, and a
conclusion.

• Edit your composition for any errors in content and
organization.
• Check also if your essay includes ideas that are relevant
and relatable.
• Proofread your work for errors in spelling, capitalization,
punctuation, and grammar.
