APPLICATION PROCEDURE FOR CASTOSET–50N

(MORTAR)
A) Introduction :
CASTOSET 50 Fine is finely ground refractory mortar which become
plastic and trowelable after mix with water. It can be apply for jointing
Insulating and Firebricks.

B) Storage of refractory materials :

All the refractory material should be stored under the covered shed above
ground level to avoid contact with water.

C) Surface Preparation :
Surface of bricks shall be thoroughly cleaned with wire brush. No water
shall be used for cleaning. Surface should be free from rust, oil, or any
greasy material.

D) Application :

1) Take 50 Kg of mortar, add 35 – 40 % of water, mix thoroughly so

that, a homogenous paste is form. Consistency of paste should be so
that material will having sufficient plasticity and it can be spread
easily on the surface of Bricks.

2) After mixing kept a mortar a side for one hour so as to absorbs the
water and enhances the plasticity.

3) Clean the surface of brick and apply the mortar on the brick. Mix only
that much quantity which can be used.
Apply the mortar by spreading on the brick surface with trowel.

4) Do not add excess water, as very thin paste is not stick properly.

5) Mortar should be applied evenly on bricks / shapes surface covering

total surface. No space should be left blank. Brick should be place on
the surface and should be tapped from the top so that extra mortar will
squeeze out and standard thickness can be achieved.
