Topic: The impact of digital endpoint devices and ways to reduce environmental damage.
“The amount of data created and stored globally is expected to reach 175 Zettabytes by 2025, a six-fold
increase from 2018. This will demand additional hardware and power consumption, which; in turn, will
increase the environmental impact of the digital sector and there is already increasing attention on the
environmental footprint of ICT equipment and services as they become more widespread in all aspects of
human life. It is the responsibility of everyone to take action in addressing the challenges of climate
change, as professionals we must also seek ways that the digital sector can play its part. While digital
technologies are one of the sectors that have achieved greater efficiency; achieving about 100 times
more computation power from the same amount of energy per decade, it remains unsustainable. The
sector must continue to seek ways in which it can continue to support and drive innovation while
addressing the global climate emergency for a greener and fairer future.”.(Pearson, 2022)You are

TASK – 01
1.1 Define the scope of the project and devise aims and objectives of the project that you are
going to carry out. You also should include a brief introduction to the selected company,
digital endpoint devices they use and the impact of them to the environment, explanation
to
the project and other relevant information about the research.
1.1.4 Digital endpoint devices they use and the impact of them to the environment
Desktop computers, laptops, mobile phones, tablets, and servers are just a few of the
digital endpoint gadgets that A K Bafiya Enterprises uses in their business. These
digital endpoint devices' use may have a big effect on the environment. They consume
a lot of energy to run, which can add to the emissions of greenhouse gases and the
climate change. Electronic waste generated during the manufacture and disposal of
these gadgets has the potential to be dangerous to both human health and the
environment.
In A K Bafiya Enterprises, using desktop computers can have a big influence on the
environment, especially in terms of energy use and e-waste production. These
computers' energy requirements may raise the company's energy bills while also
increasing greenhouse gas emissions. A large quantity of energy and resources,
including rare earth metals and other elements that are toxic to mine and refine, are also
needed to make desktop computers. (Sri Lanka 2023)
• Mobile phones
Mobile shopping on A K Bafiya Enterprises can lessen the need for actual store visits, which lowers
transportation-related carbon emissions. Yet, using a mobile phone uses energy. This includes the
energy needed to manufacture and recharge the device as well as the energy needed to run the
wireless networks used to access A K Bafiya Enterprises. (Sri Lanka 2023)
Much as servers,
• E-waste
Natural resources that are uncommon and expensive are used in the manufacturing of digital
gadgets like cell phones, computers, and servers. These gadgets are frequently thrown away as they
become outdated, adding to the expanding issue of electronic waste. E-waste is made up of
poisonous substances that can be bad for the environment as well as for human health.
Digital technology like data centres, cloud computing, and the internet all demand a lot of energy to
operate. The amount of energy used increases greenhouse gas emissions and climate change.
• Carbon Footprint
The energy necessary to produce digital gadgets, data centers, and telecommunications
infrastructure, as well as the energy used to power these devices and networks, are all included in
the carbon footprint of the digital transition.
• Resource depletion
Rare earth metals, which are becoming harder to come by and are precious natural resources, are
needed to manufacture digital devices. The mining and extraction of these resources has the
potential to harm the environment and lead to the extinction of species (Truong, The impact of digital
transformation on Environmental 2022).
1.1.6 What actions can businesses take to lessen the environmental effects of the digital
transformation?
• putting into practice the concepts of the circular economy to minimize electronic waste and
make sure that digital gadgets are disposed of and recycled responsibly.
• putting money into sustainable energy sources to run networks and data centers.
• lowering energy usage by utilizing hardware that is energy-efficient and increasing energy
efficiency.
• Giving the use of eco-friendly materials in the manufacture of digital gadgets top priority.
2023
Research was being conducted by A K Bafiya Enterprises on the influence of digital transformation on the
environment. In order to lessen that impact, it uses tools and approaches. Whereas the corporation will incur
costs as a result. In managing the environmental effect of their digital transformation activities, including the
deployment of green technologies and the adoption of sustainable practices, businesses may suffer both direct
and indirect Costs. As student researcher,
The student researcher as the project manager will present and evaluate the importance performance
of the project during the project status meeting throughout the course of the project. The project
manager is responsible for auditing costs and grants the project sponsor the decision to bring the
project back on track with the use of the price calculations obtained. The Project Manager is
responsible for all financial authority and policy making including financial adjustments.
In order to monitor and control all cost efficiency, there are other accounts and accounting books for
this project and where to produce these accounts, the project manager must have the most up-to-date
information possible regarding project-related expenses. Every two weeks following the project
schedule, the project manager must give the project sponsor cost accounting and a plan performance
index. At the weekly project status meeting, the project manager will compute the cost estimates that
were submitted and accept them. The project manager for this project's environmental impact of
digital transformation has listed the necessary costs below, as they are a crucial consideration during
a project.

Khalid Nawzer Managing a Successful Computing Project – Unit 06
For all these costs, during the project period, the selected organization, so that its environment can
improve safety, is sponsored by the project. The above costs should be properly managed in order to
successfully conduct the project and for this reason the costs are managed in a good way to bring the
success of the project.
Scope Management Plan
Management information systems are used to manage the data created within a particular enterprise
structure. This project's goal is to investigate and assess how the environment may be impacted by
digital transformation in order to promote environmental health. The preparation, data collection,
progress assessment, and testing of the Company's (A K Bafiya Enterprises) environmental
consequences are all included in the scope. Also, the business offers logical alternatives to alter the
protection. The project's scope is for the production of all reports, policies, and training materials that
will be applied in the workplace. When the Effect of Digital Transformation on the Environment is
finished and all of the goals are met by all of the supplied recommendations, the project will be
considered complete. The way to succeed in the environmental impact of digital transformation in
the project Is.
Within this project the scope management is the responsibility of the project managers to control the
scope in a well-defined statement and should be made to direct the progress of the project. A specific
plan should be included in the scope management document for management policy, roles and
obligation, scope control, change control and job breakdown structure. This project aims at
researching and evaluating the environmental impact of digital transformation in the relevant
organization. Furthermore, there are many other things included in the declaration of scope. To be
successful in the project, the project manager will define and plan the project with a clear overview
of what the project is about, what the objectives, drawbacks of the project and expectations are.
Management of scope and project progress are also obligations of key people involved in this
project.

Informal Communications
For successful project completion, informal interactions are needed part of any project. No formal
communication may communicate all matters because certain issues should not be addressed during
formal meetings. Where there are concerns or updates regarding the project in the project plan and
the project stakeholders, they can discuss it by telephone calls.
1.2.2 Comprehensive Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) with clearly defined activities and
milestones
Milestones
The chart below lists the most significant milestones for the environmental impact of the digital
transformation Project. This chart consists of only major project milestones such as completing a
project phase or revising the gate. There may be smaller milestones that are not included in this map
but are included in the schedule and WBS for the project. If the millstones did not operate according
to schedule, then it should be communicated to the respective people, so that constructive steps can
be taken to minimize slips in dates.

1.2.3 Gannt chart to illustrate project schedule with realistic time allocated for each activity
and clearly defined deadlines for milestones.
Gantt Chart
One of the most famous and practical ways of displaying activities (tasks or events) displayed across
time is a Gantt map, widely used in project management. A list of the activities is on the left of the
chart, and a suitable time scale is situated along the top. Any activity is represented by a bar; the bar's
location and length represent the activity's start date, period and end date.
2.1.1 The Impact of digital endpoint devices and the ways to reduce environmental damage
Digital endpoint
A digital endpoint is a tool or software program that connects to a network or the internet.
Essentially, it refers to the moment when a person interacts with a digital system, such as a computer,
smartphone, tablet, or other linked device. A software program that runs on a device is often referred
to as a digital endpoint. A physical digital endpoint is anything like a computer or mobile phone.
Laptops, desktop computers, smartphones, tablets, IoT devices, and even virtual machines or
containers used in cloud computing environments are examples of digital endpoints. (Landers et al.,
2021)
The types of digital endpoint devices and their impact to the environment
There digital endpoint devices that cause and impact the environment they are,
I. Personal Computers (PCs) - Desktops have the capability to use a lot of energy and produce
greenhouse gas emissions. But, energy-saving models and procedures like turning off or
using sleep mode while not in use can assist lessen their influence on the environment. (Kelly
et al., 2023)
II. Internet devices - IoT gadgets can help in reducing energy consumption by maximizing
energy use in homes and businesses. Yet, their creation and disposal may have a negative
impact on the environment. (Kelly et al., 2023)
IV. Mobile devices - Raw materials must be extracted in order to manufacture mobile gadgets,
which could have a harmful effect on the environment. E-waste, which can harm the
environment, can also result from the inappropriate disposal of mobile devices. Mobile
devices can lessen environmental effect, though, by enabling remote work and lowering the
need for travel. (Kelly et al., 2023
Etc.
2.1.2 Applying appropriate qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and critically
evaluate the reliability and accuracy the appropriateness of the research methods applied
Qualitative Research
Qualitative research is a structured way of collecting and analysing data obtained from deferent
sources. Quantitative research involves the use of computational, statistical and mathematical tools to
derive results. More organizations use quantitative research over qualitative for which, they are
looking to measure the extent and statistical results that are interpreted objectively. It is also very
reliable and accurate for the context (British Library)
Instead, the preparation process begins after the implementation is complete, in which the
preparations for achieving project goals and objectives are calculated. The project plan includes what
are the required specifications, such as resources and materials that are specified here. There are
three subsequent events in the environmental impact of the digital transformation project that can
impact the whole project depending on the consistency of the program. The tasks are the
development of a project plan, the planning of a project schedule and approval of a project plan.
When the planning phase is complete it is time to start project execution. During this step, to advance
in the project, the tasks are executed one by one or in parallel. All the preparation works including
the tactics and other requirements are gathered in this phase, and the approval of testing of impacts
by using the tactics. During this process, field analysis and collection of other information is also
performed before performing the testing. And the final stage of this process is to perform a complete
test on digital transformation is form after all the data are obtained. The final stage of the project is
the process of project denunciation, where all the data collected are evaluated and the related
recommendations are given accordingly.
Figure 3 Five phase of project management (Demystifying the 5 phases of project management)
Project Initiation
Project Planning
Project Execution
Project Performance/Monitoring
Project Closure
Project Initiation
This is the beginning of the undertaking, and the objective of this stage is to characterize the task at a
wide dimension. This stage normally starts with a business case. This is the point at which you will
explore whether the venture is achievable and in the event that it ought to be embraced. In the event
that attainability testing should be done, this is the phase of the venture in which that will be finished.
(Demystifying the 5 phases of project management)
S.M.A.R.T. Goals
This technique guarantees that the objectives have been altogether verified. It likewise gives an
approach to plainly comprehend the ramifications of the objective setting process.
Specific: To set explicit objectives, answer the accompanying inquiries: who, what, where, when,
which, and why.
Measurable: Make criteria that you can use to gauge the accomplishment of an objective.
Attainable: Make criteria that you can use to gauge the accomplishment of an objective.
Realistic: You ought to will and ready to progress in the direction of a specific objective.
Project Execution
This is where expectations are produced and finished. This regularly feels like the meat of the task
since a great deal is going on amid this time, similar to status reports and gatherings, improvement
updates, and execution reports. (Demystifying the 5 phases of project management)
Develop team.
Project Performance/Monitoring
This is tied in with estimating venture movement and execution and guaranteeing that everything
happening lines up with the task the executive’s plan. (Demystifying the 5 phases of project
management)
Project Closure
This stage speaks to the finished venture. Contractual workers employed to work explicitly on the
venture are fired right now. Important colleagues are perceived. A few PMs even compose little
work occasions for individuals who took part in the venture to express gratitude toward them for
their endeavours. (Demystifying the 5 phases of project management)
TASK 3
3.1 Analyse research data collected to support your research project using appropriate tools,
techniques and critically evaluate how selected tools, techniques uphold authenticity and the
accuracy of the data collected.
Data analysis
Data analysis is characterized as a process for cleaning, transforming, and modeling data to discover
useful business decision-making knowledge. (What is data analysis? (with examples))
Tams Analyzer: Content Analysis Markup System otherwise known as TAMS is a framework for
distinguishing subjects in writings and was intended for use in ethnographic and talk look into. The
TAMS Analyzer is an open source programming that utilizes TAMS to empower a specialist allocate
codes to a content. The analyst can likewise break down, concentrate, and spare coded data. A few
highlights incorporate translation, coding, investigation, revealing of information and record the
executives. (8 great tools to perform qualitative data analysis in 2022 2021)
Numerical data: Numerical data is information which is measurable. It is often collected in the form
of numbers while other types of data can appear in the form of numbers. An example of numerical
Khalid Nawzer Managing a Successful Computing Project – Unit 06
data will be the number of people attending the theater in the period of a month. One way users can
classify numerical data is by looking at how the data can be linked together. Users should actually be
able to do just about any mathematical operation on numerical data. Users can also place data in
order ascending (the least to the largest) and descending (the largest to the smallest). Only if the
answers can be described in fraction or decimal form can the data be numerical. If the knowledge has
to be divided into groups then it is called categorical. (5. Numerical Data Analysis 2020)
Bar Chart: The bar graph is a graph that utilizes bars to point out data with comparisons among
classes of information. The bars will be either horizontal or vertical. Bar graphs with vertical
bars are typically referred to as vertical bar graphs while the horizontal bar being other way
around. A bar chart can have two axes. One axis can describe the types, the kinds and
the classes of categories being compared, and therefore the differences can have numerical
values that represent the values of the information. It doesn't matter what axis
is what, however it will verify what bar chart is shown. If the descriptions are on the unit of the
horizontal axis, the bars are going to be adjusted vertically, and if the values area unit are on the
horizontal axis, then the bars are going to be adjusted horizontally.
Line Chart: On the other side, a line outline, referred to as a line diagram, is a practical
representation of details planned using a line progression. Line outlines show lines going over the
graph on a level plane, with the handle qualities on the left half of the diagram showing. (13 types of
graphs and charts (plus when to use them))
Pie Chart: Pie charts are best to be used when attempting to compare components of full questions. A
pie chart produces data, information and statistics in an easy-to-read 'pie-slice' format with varied
slice sizes telling you ways data available in large quantity of one information component exists. The
larger the slice, a lot of that exact knowledge was gathered in that slice. (13 types of graphs and
charts (plus when to use them))
Research
Research is a process of naturalistic inquiry that seeks in-depth understanding of social phenomena
within their natural setting. It focuses on the “Why” rather than “What” of social phenomena and
relies on the direct experiences of human beings as meaning-making agents in their everyday lives.
(Fleetwood, 2023)
Type of tools, techniques and critical evaluation used to collect accurate data
One-on-One Interview
Carrying out in-depth interviews is one of the most popular forms of qualitative study. It is a
personal interview which is performed at the same time with one respondent. This is simply a
conversational approach and it provides opportunities for the respondent to get information in depth.
(Fleetwood, 2023)
Focus groups
Another of the widely used techniques of qualitative research, used in data collection, is also a focus
group. Typically, a focus group involves a limited number of respondents (6-10) from within your
target market. (Fleetwood, 2023)
Khalid Nawzer Managing a Successful Computing Project – Unit 06
Ethnographic research
Ethnographic work is the most in-depth observational approach that examines humans in their
natural surroundings. This approach allows the researchers to adjust to the environments of the target
audiences that may be anywhere from an institution to a city or any distant area. Geographical
limitations here can be a concern during data collection. (Fleetwood, 2023)
Record keeping
This approach makes use of already existing accurate records and information sources close to the
source of the data. You may use the data in a new study. This is similar to going to a library. There
one can go through books and other reading material to collect relevant data that can possibly be
used in the study. (Fleetwood, 2023)
Process of observation
Qualitative Observation is a research procedure that collects systematic knowledge or data using
subjective methodologies. Since, the analysis approach of using subjective methodologies to collect
information or data is the emphasis on qualitative observation. The primary use of qualitative
observation is to compare the differences in quality. (Fleetwood, 2023)
Quantitative Research
Quantitative research is a structured way of collecting and analysing data obtained from different
sources. Quantitative research involves the use of computational, statistical, and mathematical tools
to derive results. It is conclusive in its purpose as it tries to quantify the problem and understand how
prevalent it is by looking for project results to a larger population. (Fleetwood, 2023)
The normal hunt process is subjective research to increase further comprehension of social wonders
in the regular habitat. Rather than "anything" of social marvels, it centres on "why" and relies upon
human direct involvement as a factor in human day-by-day meaning. Rather than hypothetical and
factual procedures, subjective analysts consider human marvels that utilization many research
frameworks, including people, breaks down, recorded investigation, talk examination, ethnography,
Khalid Nawzer Managing a Successful Computing Project – Unit 06
topography and wonders. The three noteworthy territories are people, networks, societies, dialects,
and interchanges. There are many research strategies in subjective research, however information is
not abstract and goal, and scientists have a typical start that members figure out how to comprehend
the significance of their lives. Specialists attempt to keep up nonpartisan conduct when scientists are
associated with the exploration procedure to make their hard and solid.

4. Reflect on the objectives of the project and your own learning experience gained through
following quality research and the project management process. Critically evaluate the ways in
which the research project carried out supports the organization to sustain its performance
while reducing environmental damage and how the project specifically supported you to
improve your own learning and performance.
4.1 Reflect on the objectives of the project and your own learning experience gained through
following quality research and the project management process.
The leadership doesn't just build a positive environment for the team; it's a mechanism that keeps the
team on track as well as everyone. As a leader, I understood what the team would next be focusing
on before keeping everyone involved, and I would be responsible for the failure or success of the
project. As the Project Manager, it was meant to lead rather than manage the project, to provide
vision, maps for success and to represent and empower the team.
Communication
For me as project manager, communication is an important skill and plays an important role in this
project and in all other projects. Effective communication goes hand in hand with managing teams,
from different departments that might not work together. Each and every one might be able to bring
to the table something unique and different. A better communicator can provide teams with clear
directions and goals and can improve productivity and quality of work. Indeed, successful
communication does not take place just like that, it takes time and effort to know the team well and
to draw up a suitable communication strategy that links all those involved with the project. The
ability to listen, understand and ensure people understand it is the most important skill in
communication. When the knowledge flows right away, you can conquer any obstacle with the right
ton and the right channel.
Time management
The management of time is an enormous part of the project. A project manager's ability to manage
time and set targets is a key feature. And I tried my utmost in time management as a project
manager. When everything is on track and work is done on time, the people and team involved in the
project will react well. As project manager, I am an integral part of optimizing productivity in many

fields and reducing distractions. As project manager I will value team members and their resources,
by being able to understand the language of their bodies in a sensitive way so that the project is on
course and also have the ability to delegate responsibility, multi-task and plan as appropriate.
Negotiation skills
This expertise is so important for this project. In this project, the first negotiation was to persuade the
selected organization to agree to my proposal and allow me to examine its business environment.
Project management is more like policy; it unites a number of entities, often with rivalry and the role
of the Project Manager to put all diverse desires and personalities to the same page so that the project
objectives can be accomplished. Negotiating the use of resources, schedules, budgets and a number
of other similar compromises, which are unavoidable, should be handled by me in a good way to
bring this project to completion. I have negotiated with everyone and almost every day for this
project. Time and willingness to consider the other party's interest was needed for negotiation. The
secret to this skill is to find the middle ground and make agreements so that everyone feels like they
have won.
Problem solving
I addressed issues nearly every day as a project manager. Many problems are small and can be
solved easily, and others are big and require much time and effort to address. So either a small or a
major problem, will ensure that the problems are dealt with promptly by getting this ability. As a
project manager my duty is to identify issues before impacting the project. Before it becomes a
disaster it's easier to deal with the problems.
Risk management
Project manager is the one who is responsible for everything even when the project goes wrong,
regardless of the situation everyone wonders whether the project manager has foreseen the future of
the project and taken necessary steps before it becomes an issue. Client and the project team hate it
when the project is not going as how it should be going. Risks are often not urgent and may impact
the project when it suddenly occurs. To stay on the of the project, should control the risk and actively
militate against it as far as possible.
Effectively managing the risk provides with massive benefits. As a project manager risk management
is an ability to identify risks before it becomes an issue, and come up with a solution so the risk of
them ever becoming issues is neutralized.
Budgeting
In order to keep the project on track it is a duty of the project coordinator to have basic accounting
principles and should maintain a constant awareness of the project budgetary performance.
Budgeting includes setting of a budget, estimation cost, management of the cost and determining the
negative and positives which is going to bring into the project.
For this project WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) is used for budgeting. This includes all the work
necessary to make the project successful. Identifying the discrepancies in the begging will help to
avoid unpleasant surprises on the road. With a good budgeting skill there won’t be even single
chances for mistakes and can be adjusted as how it be most beneficial for the project.

Knowledge gained during the project
As the project manager and lead the project to success I must have all the skills mentioned above, as
of my knowledge I do have those skills but not up to the point where I can do everything mentioned
above perfectly as a professional. While undertaking the research I got to learn several things from
research as well as from people I got to associate while doing the project. One of those is project
management plan which should be the main priority of any project, after finishing the project I got to
learn about how to manage the project with better perspective. And also, I learnt of how to manage
time and resources more efficiently than I did before. I also got to learn more efficient way of
managing costs and risks. All of these learnings can lead me to do a better job with doing a project in
future and make it effective than this project.
IV.2 Evaluate the value of the project management process and use of quality
research to meet stated objectives and support own learning and performance
Project objectives
Test of infrastructure devices, network servers, operational systems, physical security of buildings
and wireless internet security.
Discover unknown entry points
Discover unauthorised access
Introducing expert policies and procedures to help eliminate threats through network entry points and

Recommendations on future enhancement of the company system
Initiation phase
To meet the above-mentioned objectives of the project the project management process should be
managed in an efficient manner. For every project each and every phase makes a major impact, and
when starting a project, the most crucial phase is considered as the initiation phase. Because it being
the first phase of the project it can affect the whole project in any way possible. Most mistakes are
done during this phase. In this project, with the initiation process is a combination of project
acknowledgement and company findings, in which the project can lead to success or failure
depending on how we manage it. In this project there should be a better understanding of what the
Planning phase
This is one of the important part of any project which will determine, all the activities, costs, risks,
schedules, and others things are planned here. In this Managing a Project on the environmental
impact of digital transformation project the above-mentioned things are to be managed in an efficient
manner to meet project success. The inclusions in this phase will determine whether the objectives
will be met or not. In this Managing a Project on the environmental impact of digital transformation
project planning phase all the tasks included in it are taken to special consideration and are managed
properly to meet the objective of this project to make this project a success.
With organizing a well determined team, setting up certain goals, and with the consideration of the
risk that could rise this project phase was completed successfully.
Execution phase
This is the phase where the project manager will develop the project deliverables and hand it over to
the respective authority. Usually this phase takes much time rather than the previously mentioned
phases. In this Managing a Project on the environmental impact of digital transformation project this
phase will consist of executing process group, quality assurance, procurements and managing
stakeholder, in which if these are done correctly then the project will be successful. In his project
executing process group was to evaluate the processes, make analysis, planning and procedures in
order to finish the project and after that the quality assurance should be done, in which we can use
the help of auditing and monitoring all the project requirements and then the procurement process is
to be done to narrow down certain agreements and the final stage is to manage the expected outcome
of the stakeholders. With all these being done with high standard this phase was completed
successfully to meet the project objectives which will lead to project success.
Closeout phase
This is the ending phase of any project, but it cannot be done just like that because after completing
the there are few other things to be done before closing out the project. In this phase closeout there
should be project deliverables which have to be transferred to the respective party, project achieving,
contract completion and resource reporting to be done. In this Managing a Project on the
environmental impact of digital transformation project the project manager and his team have

completed all the previous phases with maximum success rate and they have developed the best
possible deliverable and hand it over to the organization. And in this project the project manager also
has made all the required documentations regarding the project, project contract and resources and
hand it over to the organization. With all the reporting’s and other tasks completed with maximum
effort it this project have met its objective criteria and for that this project is of maximum successful
standard.
In this project there were certain standards considered while assessing quality research, those are;
Questions which are important to be investigated, pose of significance.
The research topic being well understandable.
Questions to be relevant to the topic.
Best research method application.
And in this research project it is particularly overlooked on the below mentioned tasks to ensure
